Fuel selection

Appropriate fuel circuits (as determined from mode of fuel selected). [Pg.643]

This is very common nowadays to allow bargaining on fuel price or to arrange an interruptible gas tariff, which is backed up at times of peak demand with a stored oil supply. Most types of oil and gas burner are available in dual-fuel form, normally with gas burner design wrapped around the arrangement for oil firing. This is usually the more difficult fuel to burn, particularly in the case of residual heavy oils. Fuel selection is normally by a switch on the burner control panel after isolation has taken place of the non-fired fuel. To avoid the cost and complexity of the fuel preheating on oil firing, smaller systems use gas oil as the standby fuel. [Pg.383]

The fuel selected for use with HAN should be totally compatible and therefore, nitrate salts of amines are the natural choice for this purpose. Based on a study with aliphatic, aromatic and heterocyclic amines, aliphatic amines are considered a better choice and a formulation containing the nitrate salt of triethanolamine (TEA), that is, TEAN [(CH2OHCH2)3 NHNOJ is currently in use. HAN-based propellants consist of HAN, water and TEAN. Some typical formulations of LGP are given in Table 4.2 along with their properties. These three propellants differ from one another only in respect of the amount of water which they contain. [Pg.232]

Overall, it can be concluded that zeolites, and more specifically MFI, are adequate catalysts for oligomerization of short chain olefins to produce gasoline and even diesel range fuels. Selectivity and catalyst life is strongly dependent on parameters such as crystallite size, Si/Al ratio, and poisoning of external surface sites. The introduction of some metals (Ni) can be helpful. [Pg.135]

The pollution control industry has made significant technical contributions to the sulfur dioxide control field. As we gain more experience, process reliability will increase and operating and investment costs will decrease. Customer acceptance will improve when it is realized that pollution control equipment permits greater flexibility in fuel selection and possibly reduced fuel expenses. [Pg.136]

Prior to the energy crisis, it could be demonstrated that the cost differential between high and low sulfur fuels would balance the increased expenses for operating pollution control equipment. With the current erratic fuel pricing situation it is difficult to make such a comparison. However, Research-Cottrell offers processes capable of meeting federal particulate and sulfur dioxide requirements and thereby allows the user more freedom in his fuel selection. [Pg.136]
