Products prepared from soy protein products and resembling chicken, ham, frankfurters, and bacon are available commercially. Soy protein isolates are used in place of milk proteins or sodium caseinate in products such as coffee creamers, whipped toppings, yogurt, and infant formulas (see Dairy substitutes). Soy protein products also are used in snacks and in baked foods. 

Added Water. Frankfurters and bologna are allowed to contain combinations of fat and added water not to exceed 40% with a maximum fat content of 30%. This allows, for example, a 10% fat frankfurter to be produced with 30% added water. Substitution of large amounts of fat with water alone may not give the optimal sensory and textural properties that consumers want (43). To overcome these shortcomings, several binders can be added to improve water and fat-binding properties, cooking yields, texture, and flavor (27). 

As a result of development work between the Battelle Institute in Frankfurt and a German candle-making company, Aetema, biodegradable cellulose acetate compounds have been available since 1991 from the Rhone-Poulenc subsidiary Tubize Plastics. They are marketed under the trade names Bioceta and Biocellat. The system is centred round the use of an additive which acts both as a plasticiser and a biodegrading agent, causing the cellulose ester to decompose within 6-24 months.

Sulfidine A process for removing sulfur dioxide from smelter gases by reaction with a suspension of xylidene in water. Developed by the Gesellschaft fiir Chemische Industrie, Basel and Metallgesellschaft, Frankfurt, and used in Germany in the 1930s now probably obsolete. 

Mannich, C. Krosche, W. Arch. Pharm. 1912, 250, 647. Carl U. F. Mannich (1877-1947) was bom in Breslau, Germany. After receiving a Ph.D. at Basel in 1903, he served on the faculties of Gottingen, Frankfurt and Berlin. Mannich synthesized many esters of p-aminobenzoic acid as local anesthetics. 

In tire processed meat field, citric acid, along with oxidants, is used to prevent rancidity in frankfurters and sausages. Sodium citrate is used in processing livestock blood, which is used to manufacture some sausages and pet loods,... 

TODD, SIR ALEXANDER R. (1907-1997). A British chemist who won the Nobel prize for chemistry in 19.57. His diverse research and accomplishments involved phosphorylation and mechanisms of biological reactions concerning phosphates. Many of his studies concerned the structure of nucleic acids, nucleotides, nucleotidic coenzynies, as well as vitamins Bj, B12, and E. Work in biological organic chemistry indicated diat hemp plant could be used for production of narcotics. T odd had degrees awarded from Oxford, Frankfurt, and Glasgow, among others. 

Figures 2 and 3 show examples of PV and ozone in the tropopause region, simulated with the nudged version of the model, interpolated to two MOZAIC flight tracks. Both are cross-Atlantic flights between Frankfurt and New York, performed on March 15 and October 22 in 1996, respectively.

Coital sudden death is very rare. In three large studies, sex activity-related death was 0.6% in Japan, 0.18% in Frankfurt, and 1.7% in Berlin. Extramarital (casual) sex was responsible for 75%, 75%, and 77%, respectively, and the victims were men in 82%, 94%, and 93% of cases, respectively (2). An older man with a younger woman was the commonest scenario.
