Diverse research

It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you all attendees, renowned speakers, subject experts and distinguished guests to National Conference on Recent Advances in Chemical Sciences (NCRACS - 2016). The specialty of this conference stems from the fact that the researchers from various research arenas are participating. Chemical science is central to various research fields, thus collaboration among diverse research areas is possible with a chemist. [Pg.20]

TODD, SIR ALEXANDER R. (1907-1997). A British chemist who won the Nobel prize for chemistry in 19.57. His diverse research and accomplishments involved phosphorylation and mechanisms of biological reactions concerning phosphates. Many of his studies concerned the structure of nucleic acids, nucleotides, nucleotidic coenzynies, as well as vitamins Bj, B12, and E. Work in biological organic chemistry indicated diat hemp plant could be used for production of narcotics. T odd had degrees awarded from Oxford, Frankfurt, and Glasgow, among others. [Pg.1622]

NMR is firmly established as a research tool in catalysis, and the interested reader is referred to NMR Techniques in Catalysis (5), edited by Bell and Pines and published in 1994, for an overview of the diverse research objectives and approaches in NMR studies of catalytic materials. [Pg.64]

Detection systems that are able to detect molecules with a very high efficiency and sensitivity are now in great demand in diverse research fields, ranging from the analytical determination of pollutants to the discovery of biological traces in forensic activities. [Pg.579]

The attention of several research groups was attracted in the late 1990s toward synthetic methodologies for self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) containing LA as a binding species to the solid surface. In the context of extensive and diverse research on a variety of compounds with integral 1,2-dithiole and 1,2-dithiolane fragments, several reviews with emphasis on synthetic aspects or various specific advances were published. [Pg.894]

Only 8 percent of U.S. S E articles are in chemistry, compared to the world average of 12 percent (see Figure 3-6). While the United States contributes 30 percent of the S E articles, it contributes only 19.1 percent of the chemistry articles. The U.S. position may be indicative of a more diverse research portfolio or an emphasis on biomedical-related fields (see Figure 3-5). This trend may also be related to an increasing number of... [Pg.26]

The Unit of Nitrogen Fixation at the University of Sussex became the foremost laboratory in the world for the study of many aspects of the biological nitrogen fixation problem. Perhaps the areas most successfully exploited were the chemical see Section E) and the genetic. However, the biological work was considerably broader than the genetical, and it says much for both Chatt and for his Deputy Director and later Director of the Unit) that such a diverse research programme could be successfully carried out with such success. [Pg.231]

Figure 4, This complex of buildings, just north of the BrandyvAne Creek near Wilmington, Del., is Du PonPs Experimental Station, one of the world s largest and most diverse research laboratories. With its establishment in 1903, Du Pont embarked on a wide-ranging research program which, with the discovery of neoprene and nylon, introduced a new era in polymer chemistry. Today about 1,400 scientists and engineers work at the station on projects ranging from theoretical investigation and the research for new structures to applied studies and new-product support.
