Flow inlet

A compressor is typically a specially designed device, and comes with far less surplus capacity than other process components. As a result compressors merit great care in specification of flow, inlet pressure, and discharge pressure. Similarly, the control system and equipment need to be carefully matched to provide turndown with maximum efficiency. [Pg.229]

It follows from the equation that the power output of an expander is a funetion of gas mass flow, inlet temperature, and pressure. [Pg.467]

Enough data must be supplied to rate the compressor. For example, the mass flows, inlet and outlet pressure, inlet temperatures, type of gas or gas physical constants need to be itemized. The basic data must be very clearly stated and complete to the extent necessary to achieve a common understanding between the user and vendor. [Pg.441]

The condition defined by equation (8) is met by adjustment of (Qg(3)) nd (T(3)). The pressures at the second stripping flow inlet and that of the outlet for solute (C) must be made equal, or close to equal, to prevent cross-flow. Scott and Maggs [7] designed a three stage moving bed system, similar to that described above, to extract pure benzene from coal gas. Coal gas contains a range of saturated aliphatic hydrocarbons, alkenes, naphthenes and aromatics. In the above theory the saturated aliphatic hydrocarbons, alkenes and naphthenes are represented by solute (A). [Pg.437]

In some convection equations, such as for turbulent pipe flow, a special correction factor is used. This factor relates to the heat transfer conditions at the flow inlet, where the flow has not reached its final velocity distribution and the boundary layer is not fully developed. In this region the heat transfer rate is better than at the region of fully developed flow. [Pg.115]

Heat exchanger, counter flow or counter current A heat exchanger in which the flow inlet of one fluid is adjacent to the outlet of the second fluid and vice versa the fluids flow in opposite directions. [Pg.1446]

Production of extruder dies for complex products, such as profiles, requires a method for accurately calculating the required shape of the die and the flow inlets. [Pg.182]

If the volume V is constant then outlet flow = inlet flow = F m3/s. Assuming the fluid is well-mixed, then outlet concentration = Co kmol/m3. [Pg.312]

The anodes are platinized titanium (titanium plated with 5 microns of platinum) the cathodes are also titanium plated with 2.5 microns of platinum. All gaskets are Viton GF (peroxide grade), and the cell membranes are DuPont Nation 324. Flow through the cells is in parallel using manifolds with /4-inch fluid-flow inlet port orifices to provide equal flow to all cells. [Pg.62]

On-line coupling between a gas chromatograph and an atomic spectrometry detector is fairly simple. Typically, the output of the CG capillary column is connected to the entrance of the atomisation-ionisation system simply via a heated transfer line. When separation is performed by liquid chromatography (EC), the basic interface is straightforward a piece of narrow-bore tubing connects the outlet of the EC column with the liquid flow inlet of the nebuliser. Typical EC flow rates of 0.5-2 ml min are within the range usually required for conventional pneumatic nebulisation. [Pg.38]

We apply our model to an SOFC operating with fixed flow inlet conditions at 750°C, 1 ATM, anode fuel of pure H2, and pure air at the cathode inlet. The assumed initial conditions are the steady state conditions for zero electric load current. At time / = 0 the load current on the SOFC is increased from OA to 100A, after which the steady state fuel and air utilization arc Uf = 80% and Ua = 15%, respectively. The chemical reaction is given by Fh + 5O2 -> H2O. Therefore, the exit composition (in mole fraction) of each stream at steady state is given by, respectively ... [Pg.289]

For corrugated heat exchangers, the flow is almost three-dimensional. Analyzing the stream function inside the 60° heat exchanger (Figure 33), we can see that flow is mainly in the direction of the flow inlet, which is a characteristic of subchannel flow. However, a small part of the fluid is deviated by the channels furrow flow. So for this angle, quasi-plug flow can be obtained, which is in... [Pg.159]

Chaotic particle motion can occur for two-dimensional velocity fields which are time dependent and for three-dimensional velocity fields [46], For induction of such complex fields, one option is to guide the flow close to structured surfaces, e.g. placed on a channel s bottom, starting from a T-type flow inlet configurations. [Pg.216]

Figure 3.60 Distribution of gas temperature increase in the channel of a well with coated walls close to the flow inlet (without cover plate). The gas temperature increases asymptotically owing to the reaction and the lowest temperature is reached at the border to the uncoated (not reactive) cover plate. The channel walls are removed to show the temperature inside the channel. The temperature in the cross-section is shown at two different positions [38] (by courtesy ofVDI-Verlag GmbH).
