Feed-back models

Feed-back models can be constructed and trained. In a constructed model, the weight matrix is created by adding the output product of every input pattern vector with itself or with an associated input. After construction, a partial or inaccurate input pattern can be presented to the network and, after a time, the network converges to one of the original input patterns. Hopfield and BAM are two well-known constructed feed-back models. [Pg.4]

Other models have been proposed which follow the outlines of the equations already discussed. Equations with parameters that vary as a function of temperature, sunlight, and nutrient concentration have been presented by Davidson and Clymer (9) and simulated by Cole (10). A set of equations which model the population of phytoplankton, zooplankton, and a species of fish in a large lake have been presented by Parker (II). The application of the techniques of phytoplankton modeling to the problem of eutrophication in rivers and estuaries has been proposed by Chen (12). The interrelations between the nitrogen cycle and the phytoplankton population in the Potomac Estuary has been investigated using a feed-forward-feed-back model of the dependent variables, which interact linearly following first order kinetics (13). [Pg.144]

The feed-back design (Figure 6.3.3 on the next page) was a 2-level, 6-variables central composite plan that required 2 = 64 experiments for the full replica. A 1/4 replica consisting of 16 experiments was made with an additional centerpoint. This was repeated after every 3 to 4 experiments to check for the unchanged condition of the catalyst. Different investigations of the possible connection between rotation and the Li dip have appeared in the literature. Most relied on highly simplified descriptions of the rotation-induced mixing processes. In the MC model of Tassoul Tassoul (1982) used by Charbonneau Michaud (1988), the feed-back effect due to angular momentum (hereafter AM) transport as well as the induced turbulence were ignored. One of the present authors proposed a model for superoutbursts and superhumps of SU UMa stars [1], In this model, the normal outbursts of SU UMa stars are thought to be essentially the same as the ordinary outbursts of dwarf nova and they are supposed to be caused by the disk instability (see e.g., Smak [2]). Superoutbursts are explained in the following way. The heating of the secondary s atmosphere by strong far UV and soft X-ray radiation due to accretion and the resulting increase in mass-overflow rate from the secondary may lead to a positive feed back instability between accretion and mass overflow in a certain circumstance. This "irradiation-induced mass-overflow instability" is the suggested mechanism of "superoutburst" of SU UMa stars. [Pg.238]

There are more different ways one can model this situation, depending on the precise type of interaction between the solvated molecule and the solvent.
