Feature analysis

Cocrystals are often prepared by a traditional solution crystalhsation approach such as solvent evaporation, coohng, or anti-solvent addition. There are a number of reasons for the popularity of the solution-based approach. Solution crystallisation can yield large, well-formed single crystals, from which one may easily evaluate crystal habit and surface features. Analysis of the diffraction pattern of a single crystal is typically the best means of obtaining an absolute crystal structure determination. Further, solution crystalhsation is an established and effective purification step. [Pg.42]

The inferior longitudinal fasciculus follows the ventral stream and involves a pathway conjoining the primary visual cortex with the inferior temporal cortex. It is believed to be involved in object identification by integrating feature analysis with object discrimination. Single cell recordings from area V4 of the extrastriate cortex during covert orientation of attention reveal an in-... [Pg.51]

This review focuses on the structural aspects and discusses several approaches to computerized structural feature analysis and automatic identification of structural similarity of organic molecules with some illustrative examples relating to the structure-activity problems. [Pg.105]

This review discusses several approaches for the automatic identification of common structural features or structural similarity of organic molecules. The organization of the chapter is as follows. Section 2 gives an overview of the methods for structural feature analysis. Identification of common structural features is discussed in Sect. 3 with a few applications in structure-activity studies, which is subsequently followed by the identification of structural similarity in Sect. 4. The quantification of structural similarity is discussed in Sect. 5. The basic algorithms of these approaches and the relative software systems are also referred to with some illustrative examples. [Pg.106]

To date, two different OCR methods were implemented in CLiDE. The first one used a back-propagation neural network for classification of the characters. The character features used as input to the neural network are determined by template matching (Venczel 1993). The second OCR implementation in CLiDE is based on topological and geometrical feature analysis, and it uses a filtering technique for the classification of characters (Simon 1996). [Pg.63]

Automatic image analysis is a six step process (Figure 3.4) (1) image formation, (2) image scanning, (3) feature detection, (4) feature analysis by count, shape, size or other selected parameter, (5) data processing and analyzing (6) data presentation. [Pg.170]

In contrast to M cells, P cells have small cell bodies with small dendritic arborizations resulting in small receptive fields. P cells are also wavelength-selective. P cell output thus contributes to fine feature analysis and color vision. P cells are classified anatomically as midget ganglion cells. [Pg.129]

In actual studies, the problem is more complicated, since one must determine which case applies from the experimental results, that is, // as a function of o>, Fp, C, and . Procedures and diagnostic criteria are given in reference 80. Also discussed there are several experimental studies featuring analysis of results using this approach. In addition, this reference covers situations where the catalyst and the electron carrier are different species, such as in the glucose oxidase enzyme electrode. [Pg.618]

Bulk CdS possesses wurtzite structure ( 4 type) or zincblende structure ( 3 type). Both phases are formed by stacking of close-packed planes of cadmium and sulfur atoms. Hexagonal wurtzite structure can be represented as the periodic sequence AB AB AB... of closed-packed planes. Cubic zincblende is a sequence ABCABC... of closed-packed planes. For both structures the tetrahedral surrounding of both elements, cadmium and sulfur, takes place. According to the available literature data X-ray diffraction patterns of nanostructured CdS films and powders synthesized by different methods have similar features. Analysis of these features shows that the atomic structure of CdS nanoparticles differs from that of the bulk material. [Pg.312]
