Facilitization piping systems

Most state laws and safe practice require a safety relief valve ahead of the first stop valve in every positive displacement compressed air system. It is set to release at 1.25 times the normal discharge pressure of the compressor or at the maximum working pressure of the system, whichever is lower. The relief valve piping system sometimes includes a manual vent valve and/or a bypass valve to the suction to facilitate startup and shutdown operations. Quick line sizing equations are (1) line connection, (i/1.75 (2) bypass, ii/4.5 (3) vent, dl63 and (4) relief valve port, cU9. [Pg.647]

Additives. Because of their versatility, imparted via chemical modification, the applications of ethyleneimine encompass the entire additive sector. The addition of PEI to PVC plastisols increases the adhesion of the coatings by selective adsorption at the substrate surface (410). PEI derivatives are also used as adhesion promoters in paper coating (411). The adducts formed from fatty alcohol epoxides and PEI are used as dispersants and emulsifiers (412). They are able to control the viscosity of dispersions, and thus facilitate transport in pipe systems (413). Fatty acid derivatives of PEI are even able to control the viscosity of pigment dispersions (414). The bigb nitrogen content of PEIs has a flame-retardant effect. This property is used, in combination with phosphoms compounds, for providing wood panels (415), cellulose (416), or polymer blends (417,418) with a flame-retardant finish. [Pg.13]

Piping design leaders must get familiar with startup sequences to incorporate into the piping systems sufficient connections to facilitate... [Pg.244]

Receivers are used to supply a reservoir of air to equalize the pulsations in the air coming from the compressor to collect the water and grease held in suspension by the compressed air as it leaves the compressor to reduce the friction of air in the pipe system and to cool the air as thoroughly as possible before entering the transmission system. To facilitate the removal of water from the... [Pg.173]

In order to facilitate the above requirements in a cost-effective manner, one should resort to a more robust piping system, such as the sandwich pipe technology, since the incorporation of the traditionally used single-wall steel pipes can no longer be considered feasible for such applications. [Pg.679]

Piping design The plot plan is used to produce equipment arrangement studies that facilitate the interconnection of above- and below-ground process and utility piping systems and to estimate piping material quantities. [Pg.27]

Instruments give information about the internal conditions of piping and vessels and, when required, about control temperatures, pressures, liquid levels, and process flow. Temperature, pressure, and level gauges are regarded as locally mounted systems and are placed in piping systems and on vessels to facilitate visual readout. Instruments can also be monitored from a control panel adjacent to the components or... [Pg.345]

The arrangement of piping and the location of equipment should facilitate natural circulation where necessary. Capability should be provided for venting and drainage of the piping system. The design should meet the needs for the separation of redundant equipment and should preclude the common mode failure of redundant components and systems. [Pg.28]

The flows of wastewater originating from the water supply of a community and runoff from precipitation on urban surfaces are typically collected and conveyed for treatment and disposal. The system used for this purpose is called a sewer network or a collection system that consists of individual pipes (sewer lines) and a number of installations, such as inlet structures and pumps, to facilitate collection and transport. The efficient, safe and cost-effective collection and transport of wastewater and urban runoff have been identified as key criteria to be observed. In this context, the word safe means that public health, welfare and environmental protection have high priority. The demand for solutions toward more sustainable water management in the cities is a new challenge. [Pg.1]

To facilitate an overview and to consider the specific differences of textile fibers during pretreatment, dyeing, and finishing, the sections have been focused on the most important types of fibers wool, cotton, and synthetic fibers. Mixtures of fibers can be seen as systems combining problems of the single fiber types. In Section 8.3 end-of-pipe technologies have been summarized. [Pg.366]

Chromatographic systems are also designed to facilitate effective CIP. Internal surfaces of the column, its valves and piping, are smooth, impervious and devoid of recesses which could harbour microorganisms or other contaminants. [Pg.104]

The standard k-e model simulates the turbulence in the reactor. For flow within the porous catalyst bed, however, we suppress the turbulence. We enter the appropriate physical properties of the system, and employ standard boundary conditions at the impermeable walls and the reactor outlet. To represent the turbulence of the feed stream at the inlet, we treat it as pipe-flow turbulence. These model equations can then be solved for instance, via the well-known Simple algorithm [3]. To facilitate fast convergence, it is useful to make a reasonable initial guess of the pressure drop across the catalyst bed. [Pg.819]

Plastic pipes are polymeric in nature (e.g., polyvinyl chloride). Within the pipe are traces of the monomers used in the manufacture of the pipe (e.g., vinyl chloride). In addition, there are a variety of other chemicals added during the manufacture of the pipe as lubricants to facilitate their manufacture or stabilizers to prevent the breakdown of the pipe. In Europe, lead has been used as the stabilizer for pipes, whereas various organic tin compounds have been utilized in the United States. Lead is widely recognized as being toxic. Inorganic tin has a very limited toxicity, but this is not the form of tin that is used. Some of the organic tin compounds are potent nervous system toxins (e.g., trimethyl or triethyl tin), while others appear to adversely affect the immune system (dioctyl tin). The forms of tin used in polyvinyl chloride pipe, however, are primarily monomethyl and dimethyl tin, which are much less active as neurotoxins than the trimethyl tin. There will be some extraction of all these chemicals from the pipe when it is first put into service. However, the concentrations that are found in the water decrease sharply with continued use of the pipe. This is only partially due to the depletion of the chemical from the pipe because continuous water flow will form an impermeable barrier (e.g., calcium carbonate) on the interior of the pipe that minimizes leaching from its surface. [Pg.2086]

Ground coupled heat pumps may now be feasible, largely due to the availability of durable and Inexpensive plastic pipe. Pipe materials such as polyethylene, FVC, and polybutylene have been found to be adequate In some Instances. However, no material standards or recommended design practices exist to facilitate the optimization of the performance, cost and reliability of these systems. [Pg.212]

Suitable pipe materials for ground coupled heat pumps may already exist. However, no material standards, recommended design practices. Installation procedures or safety precautions have been developed. The operating characteristics of these systems are now known well enough for these standards to be developed. This will facilitate the optimizations of the performance, cost and reliability of these systems. [Pg.213]
