Fabric filler

A major market which has developed for fabric fillers is for the control ot flue-gas fly ash in the utility industry. This market is primarily at the expen.se of electrostatic precipitators. Fabric filters have the inherent advantage of operating at a high level of collection efficiency tor a wide range of dust and gas conditions.

Here, in particular, reinforced plastics like GF-UP (molding material of glass-fiber reinforced, unsaturated polyester resin) and SMC (laminar semifinished parts of glass fabric, fillers and unsaturated polyester resin) are concerned, as used in car and ship building. Fabric Filters. Fabric fillers normally use either woven or felt type cloth in die common beg-filler configuration. The fabric is made into bags 6-10 in. in diameter and 6-40 fl long. The air flow can be in either direction through the bag wnll. The dust is periodically removed from the bag either by a shaking mechanism or hy a reverse flow palse-jet. Means are provided in either style so that only a fraction of (he total number of bags are being cleaned at any one time.

The Cetex Institut fur Textil- und Verarbeitungsmaschinen gemeinniitzige GmbH based in Chemnitz, Germany, has been developing new areas of application for the 3D contour warp knitting process oti double-bar Raschel machines since 1997. The objective, to enable the incorporation of directly oriented thread systems into the base fabric (filler thread, weft thread), was reached (Anmi., 1997b). 

The addition of inorganic compounds to polyethylene is carried out for a variety of reasons. Fillers are sometimes only low-cost particulate materials used to extend the polyethylene and, therefore, lower the cost of the fabricated item. However, fillers usually affect some other aspect of the finished product such as the stiffness (modulus) or the processability of the polyethylene to increase rates of fabrication. Fillers may also reduce mold shrinkage and the thermal expansion coefficient Filler such as mica may increase heat resistance. Some examples of these compounds are discussed below.
