Experiments with chemical mutagens are still relatively scarce, and careful analysis of the technical procedures that have been used for testing of chemicals indicates that very few experimental investigations have been performed according to standardized methods.

Anxiety concerning the genetic effects of chemical mutagens in the environment and in food, of radiation, and of infectious agents is widespread. It is the responsibility of human geneticists and those with allied interests to obtain hard data on these effects so that v/ise decisions can be made and sensible actions taken.
