Event list

Quite often, a synthesis system ignores the event list of an always statement during synthesis. This can lead to functional mismatches if proper care is not taken in modeling. Here is a simple example.

The event" list, across the top of the event tree, specifies events for which the probability of failure (or success) must be specified to obtain the branching probabilities of the event tree. Events that are the failure of a complex system may require fault tree or equivalent methods to calculate the branching probability using component probabilities. In some cases, the branching probability may be obtained directly from failure rate data suitably conditioned for applicability, environment and system interactions. 

The event list is not necessarily hardware it may include anything germaine to the accident sequence such as human error.

Adverse events listed in clinical trials, case reports, and for rare events epidemiological studies, such as case control studies. Data from national side-effects registers or from the WHO register can be of value, but should be interpreted with caution. 

Dye sensitized electron injection in the empty conduction band of chloranil has been described by Michel-Beyerle and Brickl 92>. The principal events listed in points 1) to 3) for hole injection also apply in the corresponding formulation to sensitized electron injection. The detailed formulation of a reaction scheme, however, is more complicated for sensitized electron injection at chloranil since protons also can take part in the formation of the reduced hydrochinone form of the reduced chloranil molecule. 

Then, like a hunter springing the trap, the inventor could file and obtain patent on the invention. An unexpected AE is any that is not listed in the current labeling for the biological product. This includes events that may be symptomatically and pathophysio-logically related to an event listed in the labeling, but differ from the event because of greater severity or specificity. Unexpected, as used in this definition, refers to an adverse experience that has not been previously observed (i.e., included in the labeling) rather than one that has not been anticipated from the pharmacologic properties of the pharmaceutical product. 

All variables whose values are read in the always statement must appear in the event list (the parenthesized list following the symbol) otherwise the functionality of the synthesized netlist may not match that of the design model. Here is a simple example that illustrates this point. 

A good practice is to include all variables read in the always statement in the event list this is true only when modeling combinational logic. When modeling sequential logic, a different kind of event list is required this is described later. 

The semantics of the always statement specifies that every time an event occurs on Phy or Ones (variables present in the event list), the if statement executes and the variable Z gets the value of Ones incremented by 1 if Phy is a 1. If Phy is a 0, the value in Z is retained this is done using latches.

In a Moore finite state machine, the output of the circuit is dependent only on the state of the machine and not on its inputs. This is described i pictorially in Figure 3-5. Since the outputs are dependent only on the j state, a good way to describe a Moore machine is to use an always state- j ment with a case statement. The case statement is used to switch between j the various states and the output logic for each state is described in the appropriate branch. The always statement can have the clock event in its] event list to indicate that it is a clocked always statement. This models the] condition of a finite state machine going from state to state synchronously j on every clock edge. The machine state itself is modeled using a reg vari-] able (a variable of reg data type). 

Here is an example of a Moore finite state machine. A reg variable] MooreState is used to model the machine state which can have either of] the four states. The event list indicates that the state transitions occur synchronously on every rising clock edge. 

The variable Pbus is not in the event list of the always statement. However in the synthesized netlist, any changes on Pbus will propagate into Treg if the if condition is false. This is not consistent with the design model semantics and thus a functional mismatch occurs. 

The following chronology will serve as a review of the statements made in the Introduction. The events listed in the chronology are by no means of equal importance. They include revolutionary discoveries and inventions as well as advances made from year to year. The chronology is intended to present a bird s-eye view of developments and trends in the explosive industry and of their relationship with advances in the science of chemistry and explosives.
