In the United States creosote specification AWPA PI/89 is intended for the treatment of timber for land and fresh-water use, and the heavier grade AWPA P13/89 for the preservation of marine piling and timber. In the United Kingdom a British Standard Specification, BS. 144/90, Part 1, specifies three grades of creosote two for pressure impregnation and one for bmshing appHcation. The standards of the West European Institute for Wood Preservation (WEI) are often used in Europe. [Pg.346]

There are specific GMP requirements, particularly for medicinal products and food additives. Both the European institutions and the FDA impose constraints and require the approval of any modification in manufacturing of the products concerned. [Pg.475]

The objective of this NoE is to strengthen research in catalysis by the creation of a coherent framework of research, know-how and training between the various disciplinary catalysis communities (heterogeneous, homogeneous, and biocatalysis) with the objective of achieving a lasting integration between the main European Institutions in this area. IDECAT will create the virtual European Research Institute on Catalysis (ERIC) that is intended to be the main reference point for catalysis in Europe. [Pg.440]

Crystal structures of Aurora-B have been reported by the European Institute of Oncology working in collaboration with the FIRC Institute of Molecular Oncology Foundation and University of Virginia Medical School [170]. The crystal structures of Aurora-B consists of one bound with the IN-box segment of the inner centromere protein (INCENP) activator and another cocrystallized with INCENP and the small molecule inhibitor Hesperadin (96) (Fig. 12). [Pg.255]

The research programme of the European Institute for Transuranium Elements was, from its very beginning, devoted to both basic research on advanced plutonium containing fuel and to fundamental research on actinide elements. Non-fuel actinide research in Europe started more than 20 years ago with the reprocessing of irradiated actinide samples. Since the first isolation and purification of transplutonium elements, actinide research developed steadily in close contact and cooperation with specialised laboratories in Western Europe and in the United States. [Pg.309]

Both approaches are mutually supportive as they both stimulate the development of rules for sharing". Within REACH test costs will have to be shared between companies registering the same substance. A specific guidance document is being developed in that regard by the European institutions. [Pg.216]

When breast cancers occur in women taking estrogen replacement therapy they are sometimes claimed to be less aggressive than in other women. The effect of the duration or type of replacement therapy on the aggressiveness of such tumors has been studied in 1105 consecutive postmenopausal patients treated for operable breast cancer at the European Institute of Oncology (183). Tumors in women who had been exposed to... [Pg.187]

Bonino was not able to visit any American institutes of physical organic chemistry, as he mentioned in his report Due to lack of funding I have visited, within the limitations of the Academy s financial possibilities, only some European institutes. The American institutes are at a very advanced level, and I think that a visit to the North American scientific institutes could be very interesting. [40] During these years Bonino visited seven institutes in Austria and Germany (Table 4.1). [Pg.84]

A survey of 608 Connecticut women with breast cancer and 609 women who were free of the disease, was carried out under the auspices of Yale School of Public Health with collaboration from the European Institute of Oncology in Italy, McGill University in Canada, and the US National Cancer Institute. This weighty team of international medics found no evidence that those who used hair dyes of either the temporary or permanent kind were in any way increasing their risk of having breast cancer, and they published their results in the European Journal of Cancer in August 2002. In 2003 another study was undertaken by the world-famous Karolinska Institute of Sweden and specifically looked at the incidence of all types of cancer in Swedish hairdressers, the group that was expected to be most at risk. [Pg.14]

In the beginning of the nineteenth century people with varying degrees of scientific background (medical men, naturalists and engineers) started coming to India from Europe, at first in search of services under local princes and chieftains and later on to man the scientific surveys and establishments set up by the government. These men framed in European institutions and laboratories, spent the best part of their lives in India and left an excellent record of their work in various branches of science. [Pg.51]
