Establishing Region

These results underline the necessity of establishing regional water quality criteria when planning the use of saline water sources for irrigation. These criteria are of primary importance for establishing suitable strategies for the safe use of saline aquifers in Syria and other arid and semi-arid regions. 

Training, the most essential component of all, is still very scarce in many countries. Therefore, the concept of establishing regional laboratories to help developing countries deserves serious consideration (WHO 1996). 

At high temperatures, where excimer formation and dissociation are rapid, compared to the deactivation processes and kj >> kf+kg, an equilibrium is established, region, both monomer and excimer fluorescence will decay exponentially, with a common rate constant (38).

Banks was not the only water pollution specialist who worried about these chemicals. One of California s newly established Regional Water Pollution Control Boards in 1952 forbade a Sacramento rocket-fuel plant to discharge wastes containing TCE or PCE in a manner which will permit their entry into either the ground water or the waters of the American River. 11 In early 1953, the board asked the state Department of Water Resources to help monitor any effect of chemical wastes from the plant upon ground water in the area. The investigation included TCE and PCE.12... 

Both Canada and the USA have seen the emergence of state and provincial initiatives to establish regional emissions trading schemes (ETS), as well as federal initiatives to establish emissions trading schemes at a national level. This section summarizes those initiatives.

Reliable access to off-site disposal will depend on the establishment of regional sites, which have been slow to develop under the Low-level Radioactive Waste Policy Act of 1980. Moreover, when established, regional low-level radioactive waste sites may not immediately accommodate laboratory radioactive-biological waste. As discussed earlier in this chapter, choice of off-site disposal must involve careful consideration of the safety record of the facOity to ensure that the generator s long-term responsibility is liability-free. 

As a result, it is fair to say that the established regions of Europe, the USA, and Japan remain instmmental in the development of new vehicle concepts, and in seeking to reduce CO2 emissions through greater fuel economy, weight is currently preoccupying the car manufacturers.

In the absence of any well-established regional associations between forest health and air pollution in Europe, this criterion is difficult to apply.
