Escape routes layout

Structural, i.e. related to the civil works doubling a single tube tunnel in order to not allow the impact on opposite track or changing the escape routing layout to decrease the passengers exposure to the smoke in case of fire ... 

A fume cupboard should be sited to avoid disturbances to the fume cupboard, its operator, and other personnel. It should not interfere with the escape route from the area in the event of an emergency. It should be sited to maximize the working efficiency of the cupboard and the area in which it is installed. Although specified dimensions and layout cannot guarantee performance, the values in Table 10.8 are based on experience and are widely used.

Where are the exits and escape routes located Are they clearly marked in all appropriate languages In the event that a mass gathering should decompensate into a MCI, every health care provider must be aware of the entire site layout, location of all escape routes, and how to activate the emergency operations plan (see chapter 1). 

The plant layout must be comprehensively reviewed - this can be incorporated in the Hazop - to ensure that the design is ergonomically friendly and that adequate escape routes are provided. 

Traffic patterns, work zone layout, escape routes, traffic control methods, and how to use and place traffic control devices, if the trainee is responsible for controlling traffic. 

The layout of production equipment should allow space for personnel escape routes, as well as space for fighting fires. Living quarters should be positioned to provide a quick and easy escape for personnel to the boat landing or escape devices.

The employee(s) selected are trained in the complete workplace layout and the various alternative escape routes from the workplace. All trained personnel are made aware of employees with disabilities who may need extra assistance, such as using the buddy system, and of hazardous areas to be avoided during emergencies. Before leaving, these employees check rooms and other enclosed spaces in the workplace for employees who may be trapped or otherwise unable to evacuate the area. 

Another important issue in layout is the provision of safe access to equipment for emergency response needs such as fire-fighting etc. The layout also needs to provide for safe escape and rescue routes. As far as off-site population is concerned, the most important siting factor is the distance between the process... 

Introduction of personal protective equipment. Design of a suitable workplace layout that allows for a separation of people from transportation routes and other types of danger zones, adequate gangways and escape ways, easy and safe access for operation and maintenance, good viewing conditions, etc.
