Equipment overlays

Weld overlays of stainless steel or cobalt-based wear-resistant and hard-facing alloys such as Stellite may salvage damaged equipment. In addition, weld overlays incorporated into susceptible zones of new equipment may provide cost-effective resistance to cavitation damage. [Pg.279]

Phosphorus pentoxide reacts with moisture in the air to form phosphoric acid. WP munitions were used by U.S. military forces and their allies to mark targets and to provide smoke screen coverage for troops and equipment in combat zones. These munitions were produced primarily by the dip-fill or wet-fill method illustrated by Figure 1. The method is called dip-fill because empty munition bodies are dipped below the molten phosphorus level in an open tank until the munitions are filled with liquid phosphorus. The method is also called wet-fill because a water overlay is maintained over the liquid phosphorus (in the fill tank) to prevent spontaneous combustion of the chemical element and because the filled munition will have a slight water overlay (up to 1/8" column height allowed). [Pg.168]

EFFECTSGIS—This is a conglomerate package for modeling chemical releases. These releases are linked to appropriate physical phenomena models, such as pool fire models to predict the consequences on humans. The program is equipped with an internal mini-CIS system to enable calculation results, such as heat radiation, to be overlayed onto maps. [Pg.420]

If the thermocycler is not equipped with a heated cover, overlay each reaction with DNase, RNase, and protease-free mineral oil. [Pg.97]

The application process is also dependent on the type of project. Asphalt-rubber used as a seal coat is sprayed on the surface with equipment designed for asphalt-rubber s high viscosity and need for constant stirring to suspend the rubber. Hot mix projects require little special equipment as the asphalt-rubber is premixed with the aggregate and applied in the same manner as a standard overlay (29). [Pg.45]

Overlay each sample in tubes A to D with 40 pi of mineral oil. Some thermocyclers are equipped with heated lids that make the mineral oil unnecessary. The mineral oil will keep the reaction volume at the bottom of the tube as the solution is re-... [Pg.393]

Use Electrical and electronic component industries, protective equipment, graphic arts and photographic film, cable wrapping and protective overlays for other thermoplastic sheeting, missile applications. [Pg.805]

The first MDF was made using particleboard equipment. The fibre was dried and mixed with resin in a particleboard blender. The product had excellent properties, but there were dark areas of varying sizes in the panel that on analysis were shown to have a resin content two or three times the average. These clumps of resin-rich fibre - known as resin spots - were sometimes sufficiently hard as to break saw teeth or to form lumps under overlays. A range of techniques was adopted to break up these lumps, including attrition mills, but with limited success. [Pg.452]

Figure 4 Photoacoustic spectrum of native aminoethyl TentaGel S beads (lower curve) and of TentaGel S beads coupled via a trityl linker with Fmoc-protected tryptophan (upper curve). The carbonyl bands of the ester (at 1750 cm1), of the carbamate (at 1723 citT1), and of the amide (at 1660 cm-1) are clearly seen in the overlay plot. The spectra were obtained with 50 scans at 8 cm-1 resolution by means of a Bruker IFS 55 spectrophotometer equipped with a MTEC photoacoustic detector. Deaerate after first four solutions are mixed and add rest (persulfate last). Prepare the linear gradient with a gradient mixer equipped with chambers of equal cross-sections. The top of the gradient should be at least I cm below the gel strip and immediately overlayered with 1 ml of a 0.1 % SDS solution. [Pg.430]

Equipment improvements of the coke drum include an overhead elliptical head instead of a spherical head, thus increasing the effective volume of the coke drum. The transition section between the skirt and shell connection uses a forged piece structure instead of overlay structure, thereby extending fatigue life. Alloy steel and cladding are used instead of carbon steel, thus improving corrosion resistance. [Pg.201]
