Engineering disciplines electrical

There are three basic engineering fields of knowledge. These are called the engineering arts and sciences. They are the mechanical arts and sciences, the chemical arts and sciences, and the electrical arts and sciences. Every specific engineering discipline, such as petroleum engineering, utilizes one of the basic engineering fields of knowledge as their scholarly foundation. 

Although the field of nonlinear optics has traditionally been the stronghold of the physics and electrical engineering disciplines, if many of the potential applications are to be realized materials science and chemistry must play a role in its future development. A parallel can be drawn between the multidisciplinary effort that has been responsible for the tremendous progress in integrated electronic circuitry in recent years, and the need to combine the development of nonlinear media with sophisticated physical characterization and exploration of new nonlinear phenomena, in order for progress to be sustained. 

This book intends to summarize the results of 10 years of interdisciplinary research and future plans for an additional 2 years to present them to the international community. The results are applicable to different design processes including chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or computer science. Thus, the book addresses the whole community of people involved in the improvement of design processes in different engineering disciplines, either in academia or in industry. 

Some terms are used loosely in various engineering disciplines e.g. plastic, rubber. However, they have particular connotations in electrical engineering, especially in the field of cable manufacturing. 

Mechatronics is the synergetic integration of mechanical engineering with electrical engineering and/or electronics and possibly with other disciplines for the purposes of design, manufacture, operation, and maintenance of a product... 

In this chapter, a brief history of the emergence of mechatronics is presented. As the root of mechatronics lies in electrical engineering and electronics engineering, significant developments in these two core engineering disciplines are also highlighted. New innovations in mechatronics, future perspectives, and their possible application for improving quality of product, process, and service are briefly discussed. 

As already mentioned, there are more than 20 engineering disciplines recognized by the professional societies. However, most engineering degrees are granted in civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering. Therefore, these disciplines are discussed here first. 

Service-oriented. Some students choose bioengineering over other engineering disciplines because they want to help people. Of course, they could have chosen any field of engineering because humanity benefits greatly by advances in all the engineering disciplines. For example, our health has been dramatically improved by the invention of power transmission lines (electrical), water treatment plants (environmental), and automobiles (mechanical). Likewise, many students want to be doctors so that they can help people. The field of medicine offers unlimited opportunities to improve the health and well-being of people of all ages, from all walks of life.
