End clamps

The best method for holding polymer melts over a range of deformation rates appears to be to bond the ends of the sample to a metal clip. Bonding is done in the solid state. Laun and Munstedt

Imbalance often results with rotors that do not incorporate setscrews to locate the shaft relative to the bore (e.g., rotors that are end clamped). In this case, the balancing shaft is usually horizontal. When the operator slides the rotor on the shaft, gravity causes the rotor s bore to make contact at the 12 o clock position on the top surface of the shaft. In this position, the rotor is end-clamped in place and then balanced. 

To prevent this type of error, the balancer operators and those who do final assembly should follow the following procedure. The balancer operator should permanently mark the location of the contact point between the bore and the shaft during balancing. When the equipment is reassembled in the plant or the shop, the assembler should also use this mark. For end-clamped rotors, the assembler should slide the bore on the horizontal shaft, rotating both until the mark is at the 12 o clock position and then clamp it in place. 

Finally, you might put the thermometer in the thermometer adapter and suspend that, clamped gently by the rubber part of the adapter, not by the ground glass end. Clamping ground glass will score the joint. 

Similar sequences of accurate analytical approximations to Cn(t) have been presented for circular DNAs(82) and linear DNAs with both ends clamped,(29,63) but are not reproduced here. At present, no complete sequence of accurate analytical approximations is available for linear DNAs with only one end clamped. 

To clean the combustion tube, stopper it at one end, clamp it vertically, fill it with dilute hydrochloric acid and a few pieces of zinc, and allow it to stand overnight. 

In one of the designs of HM furnace, the contact resistance of the current feed cone to the element was a controlling factor and up to 30% of the total power loss could be dissipated at these contacts. Although such claims might be accurate in regard to the official media of public opinion and the professional moral entrepreneurs, my own evidence suggests that public opinion gravitated away from the extremes at both ends ( Clamp down, keep them out and Welcome them ) and took up an indeterminate position somewhere between apathy and the punitive extreme. The method of resonance vibrations (Section C above) has also been used, in the form of standing longitudinal wave measurements and flexural vibrations of short fiber segments. - In the latter case, the fiber cross-section shape and dimensions must be known with high accuracy the equations for calculating E and E" are similar to equations 12 and 13 (for circular cross-section) but with different numerical coefficients for one end clamped and one free. Despite the small flexural stiffness of thin fibers, this method has been employed on filaments as thin as 0.03 mm .

Stadlbauer etal. [200] developed an extensional creep rheometer especially for use at high tensile stresses. The tensile force is produced by a pneumatic cylinder, and end effects are minimized by use of a flexible end clamp.
