Dump configuration

The foHowing factors are important in dump leaching (/) the role of bacteria (2) the appHcation of acid to prevent or delay precipitation of hydrated ferric sulfate (J) oxidation to remove excess iron from mine water in settling pools, as shown in equations 38 and 39 (4) optimization of dump configuration for good solution distribution and (5) avaHabHity of oxygen. [Pg.205]

In the dump configuration, the model discards the masses of any minerals present in the initial equilibrium system before beginning to trace the reaction path. To do so, the model updates the total composition to reflect the absence of minerals... [Pg.169]

Note Liquid dump valves are normally fail closed to prevent giis blowby. That means that in ca.se of loss of instrument gas or air pressure, the spring will drive the valve to the closed position. However, the valve can mechanically fail because the level controller malfunctions or the seat cuts out due to solids erosion, which would cause it to fail in an open configuration. [Pg.357]

Sorensen (1999) has suggested a cyclic operation policy for batch distillation with repeated filling and dumping of the reflux drum. This configuration achieves the maximum attainable separation and requires minimal control. Furthermore, such a column can be operated very safely. [Pg.416]

In Chapter 2 we discussed three special configurations for tracing reaction paths the dump, flow-through, and flush models. These models are special cases of mass transfer that can be implemented within the mathematical framework developed in this chapter. [Pg.198]

To demonstrate liquid-fueled active combustion control, instability suppression experiments were performed under several conditions. Figure 21.6 shows the dump combustor set-up used in the demonstration experiments. Three configurations in which naturally unstable oscillations were observed are shown. Table 21.1 lists the specific flow conditions where instabilities occurred. The case number in the table corresponds to the combustor configuration used. [Pg.340]

Vertical separator. Fig. 2 is a schematic of a vertical separator. In this configuration inlet flow enters the vessel through the side. As in the horizontal separator, the inlet diverter does the initial gross separation. Liquid flows down to the liquid collection section of the vessel, then down to the liquid outlet. As liquid reaches equilibrium, gas bubbles flow counter to the direction of liquid flow and eventually migrate to the vapor space. The level controller and liquid dump valve operate in the same manner as in a horizontal separator. [Pg.91]

Fig. 3—Bucket and weir configuration for three-phase horizontal separator eliminates interface controller and uses conventional displacement fioal lo operate oil and water dump valves This design is useful if paraffin or large volumes o emulsions that would loul interlace controllers are expected. Fig. 3—Bucket and weir configuration for three-phase horizontal separator eliminates interface controller and uses conventional displacement fioal lo operate oil and water dump valves This design is useful if paraffin or large volumes o emulsions that would loul interlace controllers are expected.
An alternate configuration (Fig. 3), the "bucket and weir" design, eliminates the need for a liquid interface controller. Both oil and water flow over weirs where level control is accomplished by a simple displacer float. Oil overflows the oil weir into an oil bucket where its level is controlled by a level controller operating the oil dump valve. Water flows under the oil bucket and then over a water weir. The level downstream of this weir is controlled by a level controller operating the water dump valve. [Pg.98]

Cross-flow devices. Equipment manufacturers have modified the CPI configuration for horizontal water flow perpendicular to the axis of plate corrugations. This allows plates to Lie installed at a steeper angle to facilitate sediment removal and enables the plate pack to be more conveniently packaged in a pressure vessel. The latter advantage is critical if gas blowby through an upstream dump valve could cause relief problems in an atmospheric tank. [Pg.172]

In order to generate an appropriate number of solute-solvent clusters to be used in the NMR calculations a series of classical MD simulations of pyrazine, pyrimidine or pyridazine in aqueous solution has been carried out. All the details of the force fields used for the diazines and water as well as computational details of the MD simulation can be found in Ref. [31]. Every 1 ps an MD configuration was dumped so as to obtain 600 different molecular configurations. Then, a spherical cut-off distance equal to 12 A was applied so as to obtain the final cluster including 230-240 water molecules together with the solute. [Pg.15]

More recently, the application of the code for simulation of the flow over a backward-facing step with a countercurrent flow has been considered. Grinstein The ability of practical LES models to capture the dominant frequencies has been demonstrated in previous dump combustor studies (including also a few of our own studies at NRL) we expect our simulation approach to be effective in that respect also for the TARS combustor configuration presently under study suitable data analysis addressing this issue will be included in a forthcoming report. [Pg.128]
