If some fields may be empty in the sublevels, all the fields in the main level are required for each entry. A new chiral separation record can be added in CHIRBASE solely if the authors correctly identify both sample and CSP. Since the beginning of the project, our policy has been to contact the authors of all publications containing incomplete, ambiguous or inconsistent data and to ask for additional information. Providing the separations with unique case numbers helps us considerably in this essential task, and also facilitates avoiding redundancies in the database. When chiral separations are reported for the second time in a new publication with exactly the same chromatographic conditions, this is stated in a footnote added in the field comments . In this field, miscellaneous information that cannot appear elsewhere are listed (detection limit, description of a reported chromatogram, racemization study, mobile phase limitations, etc.).

To demonstrate liquid-fueled active combustion control, instability suppression experiments were performed under several conditions. Figure 21.6 shows the dump combustor set-up used in the demonstration experiments. Three configurations in which naturally unstable oscillations were observed are shown. Table 21.1 lists the specific flow conditions where instabilities occurred. The case number in the table corresponds to the combustor configuration used.

With the case number assigned, the requisition form and specimen containers correctly labeled and tissue cassettes printed, it s time for the grossing of the specimen. 

In order to perform this task the staff must first retrieve the requisition for the case and be able to confirm that the appropriate procedure was requested at the time of accession. When the identity of the patient (and/or case number) is confirmed, the next assessment required is to confirm that the number of tissue blocks submitted has produced the appropriate number of slides and stains. This task requires a well trained technician who is attentive to details and has a thorough understanding of the operations in the histology laboratory. If the case is incomplete the technician must troubleshoot the problem in order to locate the missing materials. 

Molecular weight measurements have shown that cotton cellulose in its native state consists of about 15,000 and wood cellulose of about 10,000 glucose residues. In comparative trials, a list of subjects enrolled should be submitted. This list contains the case number, name of the institute, the distribution number, patient s initials, sex and age, inpatient/outpatient status, underlying disease and its severity before administration, disease duration, complications, administration period, dosage, concomitant drugs, general degree of improvement, side effects and their course, excluded cases and drop-outs and the reasons, the usefulness, etc.. In cases where side effects occurred, the time of appearance, measures taken and other reference items are described. Separate lists by each administration group are needed.
