DSPS

Digital Signal Processor board fPSP) it is hosted into the PC and processes in real time the binary sequences stored into the acquisition board FIFO memories. The board processes arrival times and extracts the correlated AT generated by AE events. The PC picks up the data stored into the DSP memories and calculates the position of the AE sources. 

Very many types of eddy current instruments available tend to look remarkably similar in much the same way as automobiles tend to look alike. This may be an inevitable trend since developments are converging on users needs, plus PC platforms are being used more and these too are tending to look more and more alike. In the way that the DSP has changed the inside of the instrument, the PC. is changing the outside. 

VME bus. It is possible to plug other standard VME boards in the ET instrument. For example, it is possible to add a DSP board, and carry out on-line analysis. But there is also CPU time left to add signal processing on the eddy current board itself. (For example on-line mixing of signals at 2 different frequencies). 

Very good integration one DSP can demodulate up to 4 frequencies at 5kHz. 

The separation between channels is done in the DSP. There is no djitter between channels, and thus, the quality of the combinations is very good. 

The DSP has enough time to do some on-line signal processing combinations between channels, or noise reduction.

Changing the DSP software requires only one floppy disk. 

To demodulate the signal, it is then necessary to multiply the carrier by itself. Of eourse, the carrier of the driver must be exactly the same as the demodulator one. But, as it is modified to be demodulated, we nevertheless need a common frequency reference for the driver and for the DSP. This reference is delivered by a quartz oscillator. 

Then, when the digitizer samples the signal, the phase to be used for signal demodulation is known exactly. The FIFO memory is added because the output sample rate of the digitizer is between 8 and 64 kHz (depending on the bandwidth) and the output sample rate of the DSP (of the demodulator) is 5 kHz maximum. So, during one demodulation cycle, many points are written in the FIFO by the digitizer. The DSP reads them and the demodulation is carried out. 

The demodulation algorithm is very simple the DSP multiplies the received signal by each carrier, and then filters the result using a FIR filter. This kind of digital filter is phase linear, (constant group delay important for the EC combinations). Other filters may be programmed, other demodulation algorithms may be used. 

Other Processes. Dead Sea Periclase (DSP, Mishor Rotem, Israel) converts magnesium chloride into MgO by spray-roasting, then hydrates the MgO to Mg(OH)2. The Mg(OH)2 is washed and dmm filtered. DSP purchases the brine from Dead Sea Works, which collects and stores enriched brine from the southern margins of the Dead Sea (77).

The classical PTPs can be subdivided into receptorlike PTPs and nonreceptor, cytosolic PTPs. The second category of PTPs are broadly defined as dual specificity phosphatases (DSPs), which dephosphorylate pSer/ pThr as well as pTyr. MAP kinase phosphatases (MKPs) ( MAP kinase cascades) and PTEN are examples of DSP family members. Remarkably, PTEN also has lipid phosphatase activity that is specific for phosphatidylinositol-3,4,5-trisphosphate generated in response to the actions of PI3K. Finally, the class of low molecular mass (LM-) PTPs and that of CDC25 PTPs accomplish the cells repertoire of PTPs (Fig. 3).
