Drums and containers

The solvents in the as-supplied alkyd resin solutions and in the paint composition represent a potential hazard due to their (eco)toxicological effects and flammability. Manufacturers and suppliers of resin solutions and paints must indicate the potential dangers involved in the handling, transportation, and storage of solvents by labeling drums and containers according to national and international regulations. [Pg.50]

Subpart K — Portable, Unfired Pressure Vessels, Drums, and Containers, Other than Ships Equipment... [Pg.539]

Opening drums and containers. The following procedures shall be followed in areas where drums or containers are being opened ... [Pg.299]

Material handling equipment. Material handling equipment used to transfer drums and containers shall be selected, positioned and operated to minimize sources of ignition related to the equipment from igniting vapors released from ruptured drums or containers. [Pg.299]

Radioactive wastes. Drums and containers containing radioactive wastes shall not be handled until such time as their hazard to employees is properly assessed. [Pg.299]

Shock sensitive wastes. As a minimum, the following special precautions shall be taken when drums and containers containing or suspected of containing shock-sensitive wastes are handled ... [Pg.299]

Sampling of drum and container contents. Sampling of containers and drums shall... [Pg.300]

Shipping and transport, (i) Drums and containers shall be identified and classified prior to packaging for shipment. [Pg.300]

Tank and vault procedures, (i) Tanks and vaults containing hazardous substances shall be handled in a manner similar to that for drums and containers, taking into consideration the size of the tank or vault. [Pg.300]

Container sampling procedures and safeguarding general drum and container handling procedures including special requirement for laboratory waste packs, shock-sensitive wastes, and radioactive wastes. [Pg.325]

Drums and containers. Containers used for the transport of polymer dispersions will include small kegs, drums, intermediate bulk containers (one-way or reusable), in-situ or demountable road containers and road and rail tankers. If a sterile emulsion is filled into a sterile, impervious container, microbial growth will not occur but this is very seldom the case and it is often only the biocide that prevents inherent contamination from causing infection. [Pg.235]

Drums and containers stored in this area may contain mixed or hazardous wastes. Hazardous or mixed wastes from satellite collection areas from other generation points within the 100-N Area and at the 100-K Areas are stored at the unit. There are no documented releases to the soil from this unit. [Pg.143]

Inspection prior to unloading. Require inspection of chemical fill-lines and equipment used to offload hulk shipments. Make sure hoses are connected to the correct chemical fill-lines. Mixing some chemicals can result in dangerous conditions. Make sure that fill-lines, drums, and containers are not damaged or do not show evidence of leakage. Ensure the integrity of any tamper-proof security features. [Pg.6]

Mark drums and containers clearly to indicate their contents. [Pg.223]
