Other products of Porton Down s research and development at the end of the 1930s included eye shields to protect against high-altitude liquid mustard gas attack, the oil-skin anti-gas cape, impregnated battle dress, protective dubbing for boots, detectors and detector paints, decontamination procedures, gas identification sets for service units, respirators and anti-gas covers for horses and dogs. Protection for camels was also studied a prototype respirator still exists in the establishment at Porton Down.

Silk, oiled A thin, very soft, and pliable protective dressing made of fine silk, coated with a flexible linseed-oil varnish. Oiled Silk is available in semitransparent or opaque form, made by the addition of talc or starch in the final coating. Oiled Muslin or Oiled Cambric is similar to oiled silk, except that the basic fabric is of glazed cotton it is thicker and heavier and consequently less pliable than oiled silk (see Dressings, protective)P ... 

DERMAFILL of AMD Ritmed (Canada) is a semiopaque membrane of BNC covering the whole of the wound and providing a high vapor transfer rate. This dressing protects the wound from environmental contamination and promotes distribution of growth factors and nutrients needed for healing. 

Anthrahydroquinones have been patented in Japan as bird repeUents (73), and anthraquinone [84-65-1] (qv) is used widely in Europe as a spray to protect growing crops and as a wood dressing. The synthetic pyrethroid deltamethrin [52918-63-5] (27) was evaluated (74), as were other materials, including bendiocarb (20) (75) and 20,25-dia2ocholesterol dihydrochloride [1249-84-9] (Omitrol) (28), a steroid that inhibits embryo development when adsorbed or ingested as a seed treatment of bait com (55,76). 

Typical applications include primary devv atering of phosphate rock matrix and silica sand products following vv et screening. In ore dressing it is used rnainlv to protect large-diameter thickeners bv scalping out-l-65-mesh material,... 

The ambulance vehicle should be prepared properly to receive and transport the victim and possibly the rescuers. All personnel involved in the transport should be properly dressed in protective clothing. The hospital should be advised immediately of the situation so prepzirations can be made to prevent contamination of emergency department. Bring all available information on the contaminant to the hospital. 

OPs are often applied as sprays. Commonly, the formulations used for spraying are emulsifiable concentrates, where the OP is dissolved in an organic liquid that acts as a carrier. OPs are also used as seed dressings and as components of dips used to protect livestock against ectoparasites. Some highly toxic OPs have been incorporated into granular formulations for application to soil or to certain crops.

Spill/Leak Disposal Isolate the incident scene dress in proper personal protective equipment (see above) do not allow contact with any materials, liquid or gas stop and/or control leak or hazard if possible to do so and control water - use water spray to control vapor and any vapor cloud. Contain product and keep phosgene from entering sewers, streams, or water intakes. Dike surface flow, and depending on the temperature, try to neutralize the product for disposal using agricultural lime (slaked lime), crushed limestone, or soda ash, or sodium bicarbonate.
