Distribution centralisation

This is an abstract model of the state of the whole System, and says nothing about its construction — whether it is distributed or centralised, whether the links are database keys or pointers, whether the types can be found in the implementation as individual classes. These matters are all left to the design phase a distributed object implementation, or a server-based one with remote screen-control clients would both be equally valid choices. [Pg.647]

Hydrogen can be produced from most fossil fuels (e.g. coal, natural gas, oil, etc.). The complexity of the processes varies. Since carbon dioxide is produced as a byproduct, C02 should be captured and stored to ensure a sustainable (zero-emission) process. The feasibility and viability of the processes will vary with respect to a centralised or distributed hydrogen production plant. [Pg.28]

The principal regulatory authorities of the four countries are summarised in Table 4.3. To facilitate comparison, administrations have been divided according to their roles in the development and selection of risk-reduction measures, and their responsibilities with regard to implementing risk-reduction measures. Sweden and the UK present opposite extremes of centralisation. KemI is present in every activity listed in the table, whereas the roles and responsibilities of UK administrations are distributed across... [Pg.121]

In the past, alcohol prices were not competitive when compared to gasoline prices and there were subsidies to support the difference. Two years ago the Federal Government liberated fuel prices and excluded alcohol subsidies, extinguishing also the centralised distribution system and creating a direct contact among alcohol producers and distributors. [Pg.844]

With regard to the environment, the intensified plant of the future will be much less obtrusive, with the distillation and absorption towers of our present chemical complexes being replaced by more compact and inconspicuous equipment, which may be hidden by the boundary tree line. In addition, the cost of effluent treatment systems will be less, allowing tighter emission standards to be reached economically. The economic incentive to produce commodity chemicals in large centralised plant complex is likely to diminish or disappear with the application of PI. Thus distributed manufacture in smaller plant will be both feasible and economic, thereby avoiding the need to distribute hazardous material on the public transport system. [Pg.33]

With standard networks and moderately priced workstations now available, distributed systems could become popular research environments in the chemical/ pharmaceutical industry. Distributed systems typically allow the user to do interactive and routine tasks such as editing and report preparation on a workstation with its quick response time. Further, they allow the user to send computational or database operations across a network to a mini/mainframe that acts as a server. This architecture offers the end-user scientist the best of all worlds, immediate response for common operations and quick access to centralised chemical-scientific database operations. [Pg.108]

As a rule, medicines used in bigger amounts in hospitals are commercially supplied by industry, smaller amounts and ad hoc orders by wholesalers, see Chap. 36. Some tasks delegated to the hospital pharmacist may be fulfilled by centralised services for allied partners due to economic or effectiveness reasons. The frame for this duty has to be flexible enough to attain a fast track distribution within the institution and thus a fast dispensing of medicines to the patient. Thus, not only drug supply, but also the medication process and consequently the prevention of medications errors, which are multidisciplinary processes within patient care, are to be considered as integral parts of the mandate [4]. [Pg.27]
