Workshops, discussion groups and

Most organic poultry production is currently based on the same breeding stock as conventional farming and the principal problems (see above) are the same. The utility and value of the ability to solution deposit inorganic materials must be promoted and discussed in a variety of forums, both technical and nontechnical. In general, the technical forums are required to share observations during experimentation as well as product development. There is a vast amount of published information available for anyone interested in molecular imprinting, from historical perspective to current and future research and development in the field. Each of the workshop s three sessions—Context and Overview, Opportunities for Change, and Conditions for Success—included, in addition to presentations by invited speakers, discussion within breakout groups and an oral report from each group. 

Following the presentations in the session on context and overview (Chapters 1 through 3), breakout sessions were organized to enable more extensive discussion among the workshop participants. The following questions and statements were suggested to the breakout groups as possible topics for consideration ... 

An important aim was to provide the widest opportunities to exchange ideas, discuss problems with fellow researchers, and to hear about the latest research and development. This was achieved in two ways all posters were formally presented in short presentations to provide all authors and all delegates with the opportunity to meet each other face to face and benefit from the ensuing intimate interaction of a small and interested group and the workshop programme further encouraged this interaction in those areas of interest selected by participants. The resultant report at the end of the book provides a summary of the outcomes from the workshops. 

The Commission has put a lot of work into guidelines - both formal and informal. But guidelines cannot go beyond the provisions of the Directive and hence cannot solve harmonisation issues that were left unsolved in the Directive. The discussions in Working Group 3 (WG3) under the Commission has served to some extent as a catalyst in soft harmonisation . One example of successful soft harmonisation was the question of whether or not banking of allowances between the first and second phase - i.e. from 2007 to 2008 - should be allowed. In other areas, soft harmonisation has not quite succeeded, but the discussions in WG3, workshops etc. have led to a degree of common understanding. Examples are the discussions of allocations to new entrants and on the scope of the Directive. These two subjects are discussed in further detail below. 

Although the aim of the survey was not to go into personal contacts with all groups, for some countries comments were requested from national experts (Slovenia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Czech Republic and Estonia). Also, discussions at conferences and workshops were used to form the conclusions and identify difficulties and gaps. 

Thus, as follow-up actions of the LEMTOX workshop, it is planned to organize a workshop especially to develop guidelines for good modeling practice with the focus on pesticide registration and to develop well-documented examples (case studies) of model development, documentation, and application that can be used to offer training and a basis for further discussion for stakeholders and a wider user group in workshops and short courses. 

Leaders and recorders were appointed on an hoc basis from those who expressed interest in a specific topic. Notes from the discussion groups were drafted into sximmaries prior to the end of the conference, and were distributed for review and comment by others who attended the sessions. We trust that the following brief reports present the main conclusions drawn by the participants in the various workshops. 

The format of the workshop appeared quite good. Speakers typically introduced a topic of special interest in the area of supramolecular chemistry and presented and discussed recent and unpublished results. This stimulated lively discussions, which continued at an informal level during the intermissions for the coffee-breaks, or at the restaurant. Under these circumstances, there was the occasion for the young participants to present and discuss their projects with scientists of deep experience and international reputation. Moreover, opportunities were offered in particular to people from Eastern European countries for scientific cooperation with groups of American and Western European Universities.
