Direct pressing process

Aluminum powder metallurgy continues to receive high research and development priority. A major objective is to produce final aluminum parts by direct pressing of rapidly solidified aluminum particles. The process handles high-strength aluminum alloy materials. [Pg.64]

Although the simplicity of the direct compression process is obvious, if pharmaceutical blends are pre-treated in one way or another prior to tabletting, flow characteristics can be improved, compressibility adjusted, and a good particle size and distribution can be selected that yields an optimal feed bulk density. However, the pretreatment of dry dosage formulations becomes more and more complicated to render them suitable for use with the sophisticated high-speed tabletting machines [B.34, B.41, B.48, B.66, B.71, B.97, B.99, B.105]. In simple terms, for those presses it is a requirement that the feed flows quickly and uniformly into the die cavities where it can be converted into well-shaped and firm compacts in a very short time. Tablet quality is a result of the blend s compressibility . This characteristic not only includes an excel-... [Pg.1345]

The direct-printing process does not require any sophisticated instrumentation. Basically, two pieces of equipment are required as fundamental tools a computer equipped with graphic software (e.g., Corel Draw, AutoCad, Macromedia FreeHand, or Microsoft Power Point) and a laser printer (although different brands provide different results as will be discussed later). Accessories such as an office laminator, a heating press (T-shirt transfer machine), and a paper driller represent the low-cost tools we have used. Finally, polyester films (transparency films or overhead projector films), wax paper sheets, a commercially available toner cartridge, microscope slides (glass) and CDs are the consumables, since they are used to produce microchips, microelectrodes, and integrated systems at very low cost. [Pg.1173]

Fine ceramic industry. Only seldom are extruders used in fine ceramics for the direct shaping process this is, for instance, in the case of extruded wall and floor tiles. Extruders are more frequently employed for the purposes of homogenizing, de-airing, or for the extrusion of slugs for subsequent shaping, such as in the pressing of flower pots, or the roller shaping method employed in the tableware industry. [Pg.64]

Sugarcane contains sufficient sugar that it can be converted into ethanol directly. The process for sugarcane is as follows Sugarcane materia -> pressing fermentation ethanol. [Pg.394]

Thermosetting resins can be combined with reinforcing fiber directly in a molding press by pouring a liquid resin onto a fiber mat or fabric or by combining the resins and reinforcement in a treater. The molding press process is nsed to produce continuous low-pressure laminates of finite thickness. The treater process is used to produce high-pressure laminates in sheet form. [Pg.309]

The difference in the smoothness of the seam line comes from the mechanical properties of the constituent fabrics. The mechanical property related to this problem is mainly bending property in the weft direction. Simple criteria for the tailoring of suiting are given in Table 3.2. Another important property of fabrics for processing is fabric shrinkage caused by the steam-pressing process in the production-line system of suits. [Pg.68]

Direct impregnation process chains (top polymer extruded and placed on the mandrel bottom melted polymer is pressed through a heated impregnation unit). [Pg.194]

The extrusion process tends to align the particles in the extrusion flow direction and extruded graphite has a pronounced anisotropy, particularly in the strength and electrical properties. The isostatic-pressing process, on the other hand, results in a material that is much more uniform and is generally considerably stronger. [Pg.100]

For the structural component, semifinished fiber-reinforced PA 6 plates (type TEPEX 102-RG600(x)/47%, Bond Laminates GmbH) are used. By means of a hot pressing process, these plates were healed up over melting temperature, the TPM was inserted in the lay-up, and during the consohdation of the part under temperahire and pressure, the TPM carrier film melted to the composite matrix. Consequently, the piezoceramic functional layers were material homogeneously and directly integrated... [Pg.169]

The objective of the process on the paper machine is to produce a continuous paper web of the required quality, uniform in machine (MD) and cross machine (CD) directions. The process equipment consists of the approach flow system, the headbox and the wire section, the press section, the dryer section, often a size press, sometimes a coating station, a calender and a pope reeler. After the web has been reeled up this full width mother reel is cut into smaller rolls with widths and diameters according to the customers requirements. The rolls are then wrapped and made ready for shipment... [Pg.219]
