Directions are provided for constructing a small-scale FIA system that can be used to demonstrate the features of flow injection analysis. For another example see Grudpan, K. Thanasarn, T. Overhead Projector Injection Analysis, Anal. Proc. 1993, 30, 10-12. [Pg.660]

Procedure Switch on the ultrasonic cleaning tank filled with water and watch for the position of cavitation activity through the circular rings formed on the surface of water. Hold the Al-foil on the circular ring for 2-3 min and remove. Watch the foil against the light or through an overhead projector for the holes created on it as a result of cavitation. [Pg.383]

Put aclar film or a polyester overhead projector film on the Epon. [Pg.299]

Could we have used subtyping to express the similarity between Courses and plumbers JobDescriptions (Figure 9.7) Not really. This would imply that plumbing Jobs might require (or could be used with) overhead projectors, and other mix-ups. It isn t the individual types that are specialized but rather the entire group of them along with their relationships and interactions. [Pg.369]

In the other study [155], ammonia-complexed Hg(N03)2 was mixed with the selenosulphate solution. As for the corresponding HgS deposition, a white precipitate formed on addition of ammonia to the HgCNOs) [Eq. (4.9)]. This precipitate dissolved partly in the excess ammonia used, due to formation of various am-mine complexes, and completely when the selenosulphate solution was added, due to additional formation of selenosulphate (and maybe sulphite from the excess sulphite in the selenosulphite solution) complexes. It is likely that mixed ammine-selenosulphate/sulphite complexes were formed. The deposition was carried out on polyester substrates (the transparencies used in overhead projectors) at 10°C. Deposition occurred over several hours to a terminal thickness of ca. 250 nm. Bulk precipitation occurred in parallel with the deposition, suggesting that the cluster mechanism was dominant. [Pg.195]

It seems that we re always in the middle of an election. And elections mean speeches stump speeches, impromptu speeches, TV speeches, speeches after dinner, speeches in schools, and speeches in malls. With the prevalence of standup public speaking in the political arena, it would be easy for the new engineer to become confused and assume that the same mode is commonplace in business communication. The truth is that it is the rare businessperson today who gives a stand-up speech, at least for everyday business matters. With the advent of overhead projectors and transparencies, businesspeople stopped giving speeches and started making presentations talks supported by projected visual material. The advent of laptop computers, LCD (liquid-crystal display) projectors, and powerful presentation software has advanced this trend. [Pg.74]

Examples of pictures illustrating these techniques can be found in magazines or may be demonstrated on a chalkboard or with the use of an overhead projector. [Pg.230]

Gan et al. used amino acids such as piperidino acetic acid or morpholino acetic acid in photochemical reactions with C60 [231,232]. Whereas the reaction of the ester derivatives of the amino acids result in the formation of pyrrolidine-fused C6o derivatives, the reaction of the free amino acids give the 1-substituted l,2-dihydro[60]fullerenes 57a-b (Scheme 22). In a typical experiment a methanol solution of the amino acid 56a-b was added to a toluene solution of C6o and irradiated with a 250 W overhead projector lightbulb. Prolonged irradiation led to multiadducts. To avoid hydroxylation of C60 the pH of the amino acid solution should be no more than 9.0. [Pg.694]

C. Alginate "Snakes" This makes an excellent demonstration on an overhead projector. Fill a crystallizing dish or beaker to a depth of Vi to 3A inch with 2% Ca(N03)2 solution. Introduce a stream of 2% sodium alginate solution directly into the- Ca2+ solution using a pipet. You should be able to cause the formation of a long strand of gel (a snake ). For the most part, the properties of the strands should be the same as those of the beads that you explored above. To test the physical properties of your snakes, wash them in fresh water and let them dry. As they are drying, periodically test their strength and note their appearance. [Pg.242]

A "PC projection panel" and overhead projection of the spreadsheet greatly eases viewing of the computer video output. The PC projection panel provides an overhead projection of the computer screen so that all review team members can easily and simultaneous observe and comment on the recorded information as it is being recorded. The PC projection panel consist of a liquid crystal display (LCD) panel that duplicates data, text or graphics, generated from the computer screen. When placed on an overhead projector the LCD image is projected onto a projector screen or a wall. Personal computer screens are viewable by only two or three personnel at a time. A typical review involves at least 5 personnel, so the PC projection pad enables all participants to view the software worksheet as it is prepared (note a "reflective" type of overhead projector will not operate with the PC projection panel, direct illumination from below the panel is required). Further details of a typical PC projection panel are provided in Appendix F. [Pg.33]

Personal Computers, Printer, Overhead Projector, meeting room use are administrative overhead, unless provided by a specialized consultant. [Pg.79]

High quality, professional computer data presentations are easy to set up using a desktop persona] or laptop computer and the MagniView 480C Just place the compact panel on your transmissive overhead projector, connect it to your PC, and let the show begin. [Pg.119]

MagniView 4800 is cooled by an ultraquiet built-in fan and an infrared heat filter. This allows operation of the pand on a transmissive overhead projector, without overheating or affecting the quality of the projected image. [Pg.120]

Overhead projector and beamer have much in common. Focus them beforehand and try them out by looking at the projection from poor places in the room. A good overhead projector gives ten times the light flow of a beamer. However, it also distorts the projection and has a low contrast. Beamers are getting more reliable, but we always try them out before the presentation before the public is in the room. [Pg.242]

Convenient, rapid classroom demonstrations of solvent polarities, using test tubes or overhead projectors and the beautifully eoloured solutions of the pyridinium-A-phenolate betaine dye in various solvents or binary solvent mixtures, have been described [440-442]. [Pg.333]

The effects can best be seen by superimposing a iran rency (as made for overhead projectors, for example) of part (b) over pan (a), (c) Interpretation of (a) and (b) in terms of hybrid orbitals. These experiments are based on techniques described by Dorfner and arc particularly suited to demonstration using an overhead projector. [Pg.52]

Transparencies are still used for presentations made with overhead projectors, even with the explosion of programs like PowerPoint (from Microsoft) and peripherals like LCD computer displays, both of which let you show a whole roomful of people exactly what s on your computer screen. Actually, though, PowerPoint still has an option to print slides, and you can use any program you want to print anything you want to a transparent sheet of plastic or vinyl for use with an overhead projector. The problem is, these papers are exceedingly difficult for printers to work with. That s why special transparencies were developed for use with laser and bubble-jet printers. [Pg.291]

The convection currents in a liquid can best be made visible by making use of patterns caused by a color change. This effect can be achieved very simply when a slightly alkaline aqueous surface which is colored by means of an indicator is exposed to an atmosphere of HCl. The convection is set in motion by the warmth provided by the lamp of an overhead projector. A variety of patterns can be obtained by changing the starting conditions slightly. [Pg.133]
