Ogawa, M. Tani, K. Yamaguchi, N. Nasu, M. Development of multicolour digital image analysis system to enumerate actively respiring bacteria in natural river water. J. Appl. Microbiol. 2003, 95, 120-128. [Pg.121]

For the estimation of Chi formation in hairy roots, the root cells were examined on a laser scanning confocal image system attached to a microscope. The filter package with a laser (excitation 568 nm) and a 590-610 nm band pass barrier filter for red fluorescence was employed. Digital image analysis was performed by a computer-aided image processing system with software. [Pg.206]

Wilkinson MHF (1998) Optical systems for image analysed microscopy In Wilkinson MHF, Schut F (eds) Digital Image Analysis of Microbes. Wiley, New York, pp 431... [Pg.179]

A number of methods are available. The author routinely used a computer assisted image analysis system. The cells which had migrated were visualized by staining the nuclei with Field s B solution. The reddish blue spots are then digitized and quantified. [Pg.125]

Fig. 1. The chemotaxis of human umbilical vein endothelial cells in response to bFGF (50 ng/mL), VEGF (50ng/mL), and the chemokines IL-8 (50 nM) and RANTES (100 nM). The assay was carried out using filters with a pore size of 8 pM, and the migration assay was carried out for 6 h. The results are given as area of the digitized image of the migrated cells (pixels), using a Sony video camera and a Kontron Vidas image analysis system. Fig. 1. The basic idea of this method is the analysis of particles settling under gravity using a digital image acquisition system. A continuously operating CCD camera, with a frame grabber, tracks individual particles illuminated... [Pg.373]

The information obtained in the OM normally concerns the size, shape and relative arrangement of visible features. Local measurement of optical constants such as the refractive index (Section 2.2.2) and the birefringence (Section 2.2.3) is also possible. Many techniques are used to enhance contrast, and thus make more of the structure visible. Images are typically recorded photographically, on video tape for the study of dynamic processes, or in a computer system for digital image analysis. [Pg.21]
