Detection types

A different type of phenomenon is observed for the two specific Rapid signals which are obtained from xanthine (Fig. 3). Whilst the no complex detected types of signal are still seen with very low xanthine concentrations (88), these are replaced at higher xanthine concentration by a different signal (76, 88, see also Section V D and Fig. 4) which seems to represent a mixture of variable amounts of two complexes of reduced enzyme (76, 78). These complexes are, apparently, not with a product derived from the xanthine molecule which originally reduced molybdenum (76). Instead they involve a further xanthine molecule, this remaining un-oxidized in the complex. Ultimately, when molybdenum has been reoxidized (via iron and flavin), this substrate molecule having... [Pg.127]

In 2003, Sprang and Bigler have developed a pulse sequence, HMBC-RELAY, subsequently improved in 2004, that yields two simultaneously detected types of long-range correlation spectra.60,61 One spectrum shows all 7ch connectivities while the other shows exclusively 2/ch connectivities. Their method uses homonuclear 3/hh couplings between the protons of adjacent carbons, as already been exploited for the XCORFE... [Pg.326]

The first anti-particle discovered was the anti-electron, the so-called positron, in 1933 by Anderson [3] in the cloud chamber due to cosmic radiation. The existence of the anti-electron (positron) was described by Dirac s hole theory in 1930 [4], The result of positron—electron annihilation was detected in the form of electromagnetic radiation [5]. The number and event of radiation photons is governed by the electrodynamics [6, 7]. The most common annihilation is via two- and three-photon annihilation, which do not require a third body to initiate the process. These are two of the commonly detected types of radiation from positron annihilation in condensed matter. The cross section of three-photon annihilation is much smaller than that of two-photon annihilation, by a factor on the order of the fine structure constant, a [8], The annihilation cross section for two and three photons is greater for the lower energy of the positron—electron pair it varies with the reciprocal of their relative velocity (v). In condensed matter, the positron—electron pair lives for only the order of a few tenths to a few nanoseconds against the annihilation process. [Pg.2]

A possible explanation for these variations in the case of sulfur could be weighing errors sample weights are around 0.5 mg, attributable to the very high sensitivity of the sulfur detector. This can be corrected by adding supplementary attenuation in the signal response. For this same reason, one cannot detect Type II sulfur in maltenes, although it is found in resins after... [Pg.209]

Mucolipidoses are characterized by a combined metabolic disorder of mucopolysaccharides, lipids, and glycoproteins. Lysosomal storage and foamy swollen Kupffer cells with hepatomegaly may be seen. In some of the numerous types, the underlying enzymatic defects have not yet been detected. Type II is also called Leroy syndrome (J.G. Leroy et al., 1967). Due to distinctive cytoplasmic inclusions in fibroblast cultures, this disorder is also known as inclusion cell disease (J.G. Leroy et al., 1971). Foamy altered stellate cells, macrophages and also epithelioid foam cell granulomas are found. [Pg.602]

Through the sampling head, the pump unit feeds air to the detection head which contains a sequentially advanced filter cartridge that captures alpha and beta emitters for detection. The detection type is gross counting for beta, gamma and spectrometry for alpha particulates using dual passivated silicon detectors. [Pg.429]

Fig. 7.3.11 shows a photograph and Fig. 7.3.12 shows an assembly structure of the surface-detection type intake pressure sensor. The sensor device of the surface-detection type intake pressure sensor is directly exposed to various contaminants. We therefore adopt a structure featuring the following. [Pg.322]

All beams at a given angle of diffraction are measured by rotating the crystal about the axis of its support, keeping the collector fixed. Other angles of diffraction are monitored by motion of the collector along an arc. Fig. 2. Essential elements of electrical detection-type LEED apparatus. An ongoing trial with a treatment concept and clinical endpoints similar to the Steno-2 protocol is examining the effect in a low-risk population of screen-detected type 2 diabetic patients [18]. If significant vascular risk reductions are demonstrated in these low-risk patients, the intensified approach might be offered to all patients with type 2 diabetes. However, until then it seems reasonable to confine the intensified approach primarily to type 2 diabetic patients with elevated levels of albumin... [Pg.157]

Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), or electron spin resonance (ESR), can be used to detect types and quantities of fl ee radicals. Such information is of value in studying the chemistry occurring during degradation and fracture of polymeric materials (Capancioni et al., 2003 Hauck et al., 1997 Hinojosa etal., 1972 Devries, 1971 Partridge etal., 1993 Pace and Roland, 1991). EPR can also be applied to study carbon black and other fillers in polymers (Brosseau et al., 2001 Tang et al., 1994 Hommel et al., 1993). [Pg.118]

Considering all detected types of agglomerates in electrodeposited Co-Ni alloy powders of different compositions, one can conclude that only one powder (with 78 at.% of Ni) contains very small amount of cauliflower-like agglomerates typical for pure Ni powder, but slightly different, while the rest of them contain some of the agglomerates detected in pure Co powder. The difference between the agglomerates detected in pure Co powder and in Co-Ni alloy powder (except for the... [Pg.297]

Investigations should also include tests to detect type-I allergy to polymeric glove materials and glove powders (prick tests, determinations of latex-specific IgE antibodies in serum, e.g., radioallergosorbent test (RAST), and challenges with suspected gloves). Detection-type process controls are meant to detect failure mode or cause in the manufacturing or assembly process with the help of existing controls and/or automatic sensing or planned actions. These are done, before shipment from the plant. So, these controls are used in the detection ranking. [Pg.277]
