Design limitations specifications

Design and optimize manufacturing process within design limits, specifications, and/or requirements—in other words, the establishment of process capability information. 

Operate and maintain plant, facilities, equipment, support systems, and the specific manufacturing process within its design limits, specifications, and/or requirements.

In general, only the reciprocating compressor allows for reliable flexibility in applying variable volumetric flowrate and variable pressure ratio in an operation. The rotary compressor does not allow for variation in either (except that of pressure through the decompression of the air or gas if the system back pressure is below the design pressure of the machine). The dynamic compressors are designed for specific volumetric flowrates and pressure ratios and are not very useful when these design limits are altered.

The advantage of the slope/intercept method is that it is rather simple to implement, in that it only requires two parameters for each slave instrument. In addition, it does not require the designation of specific transfer standards to define the transfer. However, it requires that the same subset of calibration samples be analyzed by all of the slave instruments, which can take a while if several slave instruments are involved. Furthermore, it assumes that the sources of inter-instrament response variability are completely linear in nature. Therefore, it might not be optimal if significant nonlinear differences, such as wavelength axis shifts between analyzers, are present. A final limitation is that it assumes that the nature of the inter-instrument variability is constant over all wavelength ranges, and over all possible sample compositions. 

The code requires internal ahgnment within the dimensional limits specified in the welding procedure and the engineering design without specific dimensional hmitations. Internal trimming is permitted...

Compliance with the specified pH limits is taken to be required 100% of the time. This is increasingly the accepted design basis and is actually easier to handle than requirements in which pH limits must be satisfied x% of the time. One method of handling ".v% constraints would be by excluding worst-case combinations that are expected to occur less than (100 — x)% of the time. This introduces an extra level of iteration to the design problem. Specifications that the pH must be outside certain bounds for less than a certain time can be readily included in analyses based on the full dynamic model. 

Examine the drawings and read the specifications a second time carefully, keeping in mind all the design limitations and rules from the appropriate section of this book. Is there anything on drawings or in specifications that violate these rules or limitations—anything that cannot be done as described If there is, mark that item for review. 

The planned composition for the acidic HLW solutions includes 7.0M nitric acid with only trace quantities of sodium and sulfate. The most critical specification for liquid storage will be volume however, sodium and sulfate content will be the most limiting specification for solidification. The new acidic HLW facility will be designed to meet all the natural phenomena and EPA criteria as well as to include the same degree of confinement conservatism as the existing HLW systems.
