Internal trim

Often the facility is designed with equipment and piping that can handle the complete range of operating conditions, and with control valves selected so that their internals ( trim ) can be substituted as operaiing... 

The code requires internal ahgnment within the dimensional limits specified in the welding procedure and the engineering design without specific dimensional hmitations. Internal trimming is permitted... 

If I want to allow for future expansion. I ll oversize the valve and use an internal trim of reduced size.

Internal trim for automobiles may be conveniently secured by a latex adhesive which must be light colored and protected against oxidation by a nonstaining antioxidant. Some thickener and tackifier is desirable, as much of the trim is fabric and penetration through this would constitute a serious fault. Formulation IX aims at meeting these properties. 

This represents a major use of structural adhesives in the industry and a wide range of internal trim panels are produced in this way by bonding melamine to plywood or aluminum.
