Michael R. Greenberg is a professor in the Department of Urban Studies and Community Health at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, and an adjunct professor of environmental and community medicine at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. His principal research and teaching interests include urbanization, industrialization, and environmental health policy. Dr. Greenberg holds a B.A. in mathematics and history, an M.A. in urban geography, and a Ph.D. in environmental and medical geography. 

Sample Collection. Multiple samples of PM2 5 that were used in the mechanistic studies were collected at the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality station 0.1 mi from Interstate highway I-IO and 1.5 mi east of the junction of I-IO and 1-12 in Baton Rouge, LA, using the U.S. ERA protocol RFPS-0498-117 and a Rupprecht Patashnick Partisol-FRM model 2000 air sampler. The dlchloromethane-soluble fraction of POM showed a consistent association with the sulfate factor. Previous summer studies (29, 30) have Indicated correlations between this fraction and ozone. As sulfate and ozone are strongly correlated during the summer months in the northeastern part of the U.S. (31), there may be a stronger association between DCM and ozone than DCM and sulfate. As of this date, the ozone data have been obtained from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation but have not been entered into the computer files.

George Eadon is director of the Division of Environmental Disease Prevention of the New York State Department of Health and associate professor in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences at the State University of New York, Albany. He is actively engaged in a number of biomonitoring studies being conducted by the state of New York. Dr. Eadon has served as assistant and associate professor of chemistry and later as chairman of the Department of Environmental Health Science and Toxicology at the State University of New York, Albany. Dr. Eadon received his PhD in chemistry from Stanford University. He serves on the advisory board of New York s Environmental Public Health Tracking Grant.
