Dedications, book

Clearly, trying to cover a domain so vast as NMR in all its aspects ranging from theory, via fundamental research, to established routine analyses is a difficult task even for a dedicated book. We will therefore go through some aspects of the NMR phenomenon and we will recommend some books (among very many NMR books one could find in a library s index guide) dealing with various aspects of the field. [Pg.180]

In a dedicated book (Vol. 3, Buzzi-Ferraris and Manenti, 2014), we show that substitution methods rarely converge rapidly to the solution of a nonlinear system. If we need to accurately solve a system (we will see soon that this is required for stiff problems), it is preferable to use a variant of the Nervton method to achieve a fester convergence and also for another more important reason to be explained later. [Pg.107]

Many other applications and devices based on NLO materials are possible. We tried to give only an overview of the current state of the art in such a field but we are sure that not all the topics have been covered both because the literature in the field is huge and it would have required a dedicated book for a comprehensive review. [Pg.158]

In the first dedicated book [6] to this exciting field, flash chemistry is defined as follows. Flash chemistry is a field of chemical synthesis using flow microreactors where extremely fast reactions are conducted in a highly controlled manner to... [Pg.73]

This book deals with the recent advances in the science and technology of MAX phases and ultra-high temperature ceramics (UHTCs) and their performances in extreme environments. Hitherto, there is an enormous but fragmented amount of research papers on MAX phases and UHTCs published in various journals in recent years. A dedicated book on this topic is required to bring all the scattered research findings into a single volume which will provide an invalnable resource for both students and researchers in this field. [Pg.656]

Because of the importance of cellulose and the difficulty in unraveling its secrets, several societies (CeUucon, American Chemical Society, and TAPPI) are dedicated to cellulose, lignin, and related molecules, as is at least one journal that is abstracted by Chemicaly hstracts (3). The length of the proceedings of the Tenth Cellulose Conference (1638 pages) (4) indicates the vitaUty and interest in this subject, but research results are pubUshed in many other journals as well. There are also several recent books on cellulose (5—9). Reference 10 is a comprehensive review and is recommended especially for the historical review of proof of chemical stmcture, one of the milestones in organic chemistry. [Pg.237]

CCPS and members of the Batch Reaction Subcommittee dedicate this book to the memory of Felix Freiheiter and Al Noren... [Pg.173]

One of us (C.L.L.C) would specially like to thank her many research students (past and present) for their unwavering support, friendship and loyalty, which enabled her to achieve what she now has. She wishes also to thank her family for their love, and would particularly like to dedicate her contribution towards this book to the memory of her brother Andrew who had said that he should have been a scientist. [Pg.622]

This book is dedicated to pumps but we should mention that cavitation eould occur in other parts of the pumping system. Under the correct eireumstanees, valves and pipe elbows are also candidates to suffer damage from cavitation. [Pg.25]

In this book, we ve dedicated whole chapters to seals and bearings. However, there are some other complaints (symptoms) that send pumps into the shop. We have listed below some of those reasons. We present them in table form with the symptom and the possible hydraulic and/or mechanical cause for the symptom. We hope this helps someone. [Pg.229]

In Ancient Rome, Pliny the Elder (c. a.d. 23-79) dedicated 37 volumes of Natural History to the emperor Titus. In the last of these books, dealing with gems and precious stones, he describes the properties of the fossil resin, amber. The ability of amber to attract dust was recognised and in fact the word electricity is derived from elektron, the Greek for amber. [Pg.2]

America and then the world. This book is dedicated to the memory of Daniel Hanson. [Pg.8]

This book is dedicated to Barbara, the love of my life, my constant companion and supporter, the mother of our ehildren, Abi to our grandchildren. Through strength, devotion, and love of humanity, she made the lives of so many that she touched happy. Because she lived, the world is a better place. [Pg.227]

Hawthorne eventually wrote up his MIT notes for a paper with his research student, Graham de Vahl Davis [16], but it is really Will Hawthorne who should have written this book. So I dedicate it to him, one of several great engineering teachers, including Keenan, Taylor and Shapiro, who graced the mechanical engineering department at MIT when I was there as a young assistant professor. [Pg.217]

The Center for Chemical Process Safety of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers owes a great deal of thanks to the dedicated and professional engineers and scientists who served with distinction on the Vapor Cloud Explosion subcommittee during the development of this Guidelines book. They are ... [Pg.396]

I also have introduced a symbol [R] to highlight review articles, book chapters and books dedicated to the respective name reactions. [Pg.566]
