Polyacrylate elastomers find limited use in hydrauhc systems and gasket apphcations because of their superior heat resistance compared to the nitrile mbbers (219,220). Ethylene—acrylate copolymers were introduced in 1975. The apphcations include transmission seals, vibration dampers, dust boots, and steering and suspension seals. Further details and performance comparisons with other elastomers are given in reference 221 (see also Elastomers, SYNTHETIC-ACRYLIC ELASTOTffiRS). [Pg.172]

Squeeze film dampers have long been used to combat rotor dynamic and stability problems that conventional bearings cannot solve on turbomachinery rotor systems. The use of squeeze film dampers in problem process machinery has tainted it as a treat-the-symptom solution, and many users shy away from using squeeze film dampers for this reason. Also, their limited use is explained by the difficulty in accurately predicting performance, particularly with o-ring supported dampers. [Pg.359]

Balanced pressure loss method. This is a method which is used to improve the performance of a preliminary design of a duct system and reduce the number of control dampers. [Pg.787]

Most high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) pumps can be used in HOPC. The back pressure rating should be at least several thousand pounds per square inch (a few hundred kg/cm ). A type of pump that does not allow bypassing the pressure transducer or a pulse damper, if it is installed, must not be used. The dead volume should be as small as possible. Pumps with a single plunger are better than those with two plungers. [Pg.616]

Stationary or moveable inlet vanes, if used, attach to the inlet beU. These are also dieformed for uniformity and are welded in place for the stationary type and attached to a spider that is attached to the beU for the movable type. Figures 12-127A-B. The discharge damper. Figure 12-127C, is used for system volume and pressure control and is discussed later in regard to comparative performance with inlet vanes. [Pg.535]

Compensation is made for variations in ambient air pressure and temperature, calorific value, boiler resistance due to fouling and burner performance drift by trimming the air damper with a separate servo motor. [Pg.378]

In a previous paper (16) the hardware design of the SEC/Viscometer system used in this work has been described. The effects of operational variables, e.g. pump pulsations, flow rate and flow irregularities on the performance of the viscometer and the enhancement of the signal-to-noise ratio by using mechanical dampers also has been described. Our current work has focused on the development, implementation and application of automated data... [Pg.131]

The principal design feature that permits economical application of the wet/dry tower is the summer damper component. This is a door-like air flow restrictor that is located in the heated dry air stream between the air-cooled heat exchanger and the fan. Its purpose is to reduce the air flow through the dry stream, while boosting the air flow in the wet stream, thereby enhancing the wet section thermal performance during summer operation. [Pg.84]

For further understanding the performance of the SCISR by comparison, the preparation experiments are also carried out simultaneously in a stirred tank reactor (STR) with an effective volume of 0.6x10 m3, the structure of which is indicated in Fig. 13.1. In order to mimic industrial conditions, the STR is equipped with three dampers distributed uniformly along the circle the stirrer is a flat paddle. [Pg.273]

This analysis is performed using a Dionex Model 12 ion chromatograph with 200pL sample loop, an eluent flow rate of 2.3ml min 1 (30% of full capacity) and a sample pump flow rate of 3.8ml min 1 (50% of full capacity). Pulse damper is installed just before the injection valve to reduce flow pulsation. A Dionex amperometric detector... [Pg.69]

The data on the volume properties of PMS liquids (i.e. coefficient of volumetric expansion, relative volume variation, coefficient of isothermal compressibility) are essential for the performance characteristics of oli-godimethylsiloxanes in hydraulic systems, hydraulic shocks and dampers they allow one to determine the working characteristics of these systems with some brands of PMS liquids at different temperatures and pressures. [Pg.167]

An independent contractor responsible to the construction manager or owner should do testing and balancing (TAB) of mechanical systems. All start-up should be complete and initial valve or damper settings made (and recorded) by the subcontractor before testing and balancing begins. The TAB contractor should not have to repair equipment or troubleshoot inoperative equipment but rather only adjust and verify performance of equipment. [Pg.206]

Apr-94 JACADS (Unusual Occurrence) LIC/MPF airlock MDB filter unit taken off-line to perform maintenance. Air dampers on spare filter did not operate properly causing a fluctuation in the MDB. Agent maintained under engineering controls. Agent alarm in LIC/MPF airlock. Cause limit switch failure. Corrective actions taken. [Pg.94]
