Cutter mill

A mixture of acetone/water is used in the Roch et al. method (40) for aflatoxins in groundnut cake 1 kg of the sample is ground to a fine powder and mixed using a Hobert Vertical Cutter Mill (VCM 25). Sixty g of cake is extracted with 600 ml of acetone water (85 15). The mixture is carefully shaken and filtered through a folded paper 5 ml of the acetone extract is used for the subsequent purification assay. [Pg.502]

The main extraction procedures used are summarised in Table 2.1 and although most of them can be carried out on material cut to a particle size of less than 2 mm diameter, it is often advantageous to produce material of a smaller size and with a larger surface area to mass ratio. This is conveniently done by grinding at the temperature of liquid nitrogen using an efficient and easily cleaned cutter mill. [Pg.69]

Wood flour of 100 pm or more is manufactured by dry pulverization of wood material with 10% or less of water content using a hammer mill or cutter mill (Figure 5.26). In dry pulverization, manufacture of wood flour of 100 pm or less is difficult, and there is a limitation on the size of finely powdered wood flour because of its reflocculation. The graph for pulverization time versus wood flour size for pulverizing 300 pm, using a planet-type ball mill is shown in Figure 5.27. Wood... [Pg.198]

Size reduction uses either hammer mills or blade cutters (shredders). Hammer mills are likely to break glass into finer sizes maldng it hard to separate. Better results may be obtained in a flowsheet where size reduction follows separation (Savage, Seminar on the Apphcation... [Pg.1873]

Cold feed extruders use compounds in a strip form. The strip is generally made during the take-off process in mixing a series of cutters are used on the blending mill... [Pg.455]

The groove into which a key is fitted is referred to as a keyseat when referring to shafts and a key way when referring to hubs. Keyseating is the actual machine operation of producing keyseats. Keyways are normally made on a keyseater or by a broach. Keyseats are normally made with a rotary or end mill cutter. [Pg.998]

The effective key length, L is that portion of key having full bearing on hub and shaft. Note that the curved portion of the keyseat made with a rotary cutter does not provide full key bearing, so L does not include this distance. The use of an end mill cutter results in a square-ended keyseat. [Pg.999]

Wheat grains and soybeans are ground in a coffee mill. Potato is chopped finely with a cutter. [Pg.521]

Prior to analysis, samples should be chopped and finely pulverized with iiquid nitrogen using a large Hobart (forage, hay, fodder and straw samples) or a Wiley mill (grain and seed samples). Recently, frozen crop matrices were processed more effectively with a Robot Coupe vertical cutter/mixer without liquid nitrogen. [Pg.568]

The use of peat as litter was studied in Finland in the 1930s and 40s. Today, peat is harvested mechanically by means of a milling cutter, which creates fine particle peat. Cowsheds have also changed with respect to the use of peat with the mechanisation of manure removal. At the same time workers are now demanding better working... [Pg.196]
