Turbomolecular pumps and frequency converters are nearly maintenance-free. In the case of oil-lubricated pumps it is necessary to replace the bearing lubricant at certain intervals (between 1500 and 2500 hours in operation, depending on the type). This is not required in the case of grease-lubricated pumps (lifetime lubrication). If it should become necessary to clean the pump s turbine unit, then this can easily be done by the customer, observing the procedures described in the operating instructions. [Pg.143]

It is a custom observed by the British Royal Family who called upon the Rabbi Jacob Snowman, the respected Mohel of the London Jewish community, to perform the religious rite of Brit Milah with Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace. This is also the Covenant of Circumcision. [Pg.88]

Customize observation and review. As we have discussed, management, supervisors, and employees must work together to develop meaningful processes for observation and feedback, support, and empowerment, to include activity-based measurements [4]. [Pg.335]

Viscoelastic Measurement. A number of methods measure the various quantities that describe viscoelastic behavior. Some requite expensive commercial rheometers, others depend on custom-made research instmments, and a few requite only simple devices. Even quaHtative observations can be useful in the case of polymer melts, paints, and resins, where elasticity may indicate an inferior batch or unusable formulation. Eor example, the extmsion sweU of a material from a syringe can be observed with a microscope. The Weissenberg effect is seen in the separation of a cone and plate during viscosity measurements or the climbing of a resin up the stirrer shaft during polymerization or mixing. [Pg.192]

A typical LIMS instrument accepts specimens up to 19 mm (0.75 in) in diameter and up to 6 mm in thickness. Custom designed instruments exist, with sample manipulation systems that accept much larger samples, up to a 6-in wafer. Although a flat sample is preferable and is easier to observe with the instrument s optical system, irregular samples are often analyzed. This is possible because ions are produced and extracted from pm-sized regions of the sample, without much influence from nearby topography. However, excessive sample relief is likely to result in reduced ion signal intensity. [Pg.596]

To determine trends in customer satisfaction and dissatisfaction you will need to make regular surveys and plot the results, preferably by particular attributes or variables. The factors will need to include quality characteristics of the product or service as well as delivery performance and price. The surveys could be linked to your improvement programs so that following a change, and allowing sufficient time for the effect to be observed by the customer, customer feedback data could be secured to indicate the effect of the improvement. [Pg.107]

A failure to observe government health and safety regulations could close a factory for a period and hence result in late delivery to customers. [Pg.114]

Observation studies are conducted by actually viewing the overt actions of the respondent. In the automotive industry this can either be carried out in the field or in the factories, where subcontractors can observe their customer using their materials or components. [Pg.142]

Receipt inspection doesn t need to be a department, a section, a separate room, a full time job for someone, or a particular person. It is a process through which all product must pass, even those received on a Just-in-time basis. Someone should verify that products can pass uninspected. At a customs post some people are stopped, others are waved through all are inspected to some degree - it all depends on the confidence gained by observation. [Pg.380]

The purpose of the various electromechanical elements of a circuit is to effect monitoring, safety and automatic control, and these may he connected separately into a custom-huilt system. The availahility of electronic logic circuits gives the possibility of integrated systems and superior control, using a large number of input signals. Observed parameters are ... [Pg.120]

Multi-slit systems in which the field is mapped onto the detector via a mask. This admits only the light of pre-selected objects so that a spectrum is produced at the location of each slitlet. The slit mask is custom-made for each observation. Recent examples include CMOS (Hook et al. 2003 Table 2), VIMOS (Le Fgvre et al. 2003) and DEIMOS (Faber et al. 2003). [Pg.168]

This chapter defines qnality as meeting consumer or customer requirements a product as such has no qnality, but it has physical properties reflected in attributes that can be perceived as qnality after consumption or use. Quality attributes can be defined as characteristics of a product or production process that are observable (by... [Pg.552]

All quarantine and customs regulations must be observed if samples are dispatched across the national frontier. A phytosanitary certificate may be needed and should be secured in good time before the proposed date of dispatch. The EEC generally allows free movement of goods within the EU, although moving from non-EU to EU countries does result in more stringent paperwork. [Pg.189]

There are situations where close-up observations of the volunteer study participant may not be warranted. For example, during a study to determine exposure to pesticides of a group of custom applicators using biological monitoring, observing the workers may not be acceptable in order to make sure that the exposure levels are not biased by any control of the study by the investigator. [Pg.1022]

As for the customer s observation that the datasheet claims the ripple will be +20mV, you should be aware that almost all companies deliberately choose the best conditions to present their curves. Remember, these curves are only typical, and your definition of what that word means can differ dramatically from theirs. From their point of view, it is a dog-eat-dog world out there, and if they don t do this, the customer will likely penalize them and pick the competitor s parts without further thought. They also figure that very few... [Pg.288]

Forensic analysis is usually required for the collection of data in the course of determining whether legislation has been infringed. The customer requires that, above all, there is an unbroken chain of evidence from the time the samples were taken to the presentation of evidence in courts of law. In the laboratory this will include documentation and authorization for sample receipt, sample transfer, sub-sampling, laboratory notebooks, analytical procedures, calculations and observations, witness statements and sample disposal. All of these aspects can be called as evidence in court. [Pg.6]

Blind samples are types of sample which are inserted into the analytical batch without the knowledge of the analyst - the analyst may be aware that blind samples are present but not know which they are. Blind samples may be sent by the customer as a check on the laboratory or by laboratory management as a check on a particular system. Results from blind samples are treated in the same way as repeat samples - the customer or laboratory manager examines the sets of results to determine whether the level of variation, between repeat measurements on the blind sample or between the observed results and an expected value, is acceptable, as described in Section 5.4.3. [Pg.118]
