Contractors design companies

Contractor designs will be in the context of a competitive bidding situation and in-company checks of the design should cover not only design errors but also cases where calculated risks have been taken, which may not, however, be acceptable to the operating company.

Another aspect of these endeavors is the provision of materials and devices to accommodate the services. Surveyors, for example, require surveying equipment such as transit levels and laser source-detectors in order to function. Similarly, construction contractors typically require custom-built roof trusses and other structures. Graphics and game design companies often subcontract needed programming expertise. Numerous businesses and industries exist, or can be initiated, to provide needed goods. 

Other types of contractors include the design company that engineers the facility and the construction company that builds it. Many of the safety-critical decisions are made by engineers and technical specialists working at onshore offices. 

Eor this example the cost of the battery limits plant is about four times the purchase cost of the equipment. This number is about two for module I-type plants designed and iastalled by the fine chemicals company itself, and about six for expanded module IV-type plants designed and built by contractors. 

Types and Accuracy of Estimates Capital-cost estimates may be required for a variety of reasons, among others to enable feasibility studies to be carried out, to enable a manufacturing company to select from alternative investments, to assist in selection from alternative designs, to provide information for planning the appropriation of capital, and to enable a contractor to bid on a new project. It is therefore essential to achieve the greatest accuracy of estimation with a minimum expenditure of time and money. 

Side studies should be done by in-house company personnel if possible. If communications are not perfect, it is easy for a contractor to provide a study on the wrong basis. Company design and operating and economic philosophy often are not fully communicated to the contractor with resulting waste of time. In any event, as discussed previously, in-house personnel must do economics. Therefore, use of a contractor is limited to the same portions of the side study as for the overall evaluation. 

Internal personnel will normally undertake boiler plant operation. Maintenance work may be by either internal personnel or outside contractors. Service contracts will be available from equipment suppliers covering all items of the boiler plant. Recently, companies have started offering contract energy-management schemes. These may be designed to suit individual applications and will be tailored to customer requirements. They may take over the operation of an existing plant or, if necessary, include for a new replacement plant. They will usually operate over a 3-10-year contract period. Dependent upon the terms of contract, all fuels, electricity, repairs and replacements may be covered. 

In large companies an internal project team may design the plant, otherwise contractors provide the design. In either case, the corrosion engineer must be involved from the inception of the project. Otherwise, the materials of construction will have to be chosen to satisfy process... 

In this external contractor role, water treatment companies providing technical application and problem solving services are required to possess some general design component and process operating knowledge... 

Performance trials are conducted to determine the use pattern required for effective pesticide performance. Much effort goes into determining the minimum effective rate. Usually, about 30 trials are required per major pest. Initial performance testing is usually conducted on company research farms. For crops and pests that cannot be handled internally, contractors are used. The differences between residue and performance trials create difficulties in designing an electronic system that can handle both smdy types well.
