But, a company seeking to outsource must also be familiar with negative aspects associated with working with a contract manufacturer. A major disadvantage to developing companies is that the client is entrusting to another entity its valuable intellectual property that before was a closely guarded secret. Clients also must consider that they are but one of the contractor s many clients. As a result, due to competition for the contractor s resources, projects may not move forward as fast as a client may desire. Finally, clients incur the costs of at least a portion of the salaries and overhead of the contract manufacturer. [Pg.752]

The Collapsible Tube Manufacturers Association collects data on collapsible tubes for tooth paste, medicinal, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, household, and similar products. Tubes made of tin, lead, a combination of tin and lead, and aluminum are considered. Information on production, shipments, new orders, and exports is available monthly and annually. Periodically new products, new equipment, and production facilities are surveyed, as well as labor conditions, including job classifications, rate ranges, and wage-contract data. [Pg.24]

The specifications and test values of oils given in various surveys and in the national and international standards (such as Codex), provide a useful insight into their properties and can be used as guides for good quality. However, they are intended to be advisory only and are not implied in any contract, unless they are specifically included. Commercial contracts are normally based on trade specifications which give rounded values for a few basic characteristics. The specifications of the Malaysian Edible Oil Manufacturers Association (MEOMA 2001) for crude and refined CNO are shown in Table 6.11 and those of a major EU refiner for both refined and hydrogenated CNO are shown in Table 6.12. [Pg.170]

Pharmaceutical contract manufacturing Powders, wet and dry granules, tablets (film coated, dispersible, effervescent) and associated equipment). [Pg.1145]

A project named QT Interval Prolongation Project for Database Construction (QT PRODACT) was organised by pharmaceutical companies belonging to the Japan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (JPMA) and contract laboratories belonging to the Japan Association of Contract Laboratories for Safety Evaluation (JACL). The aim of this project was first to construct a non-clinical database to... [Pg.208]

National Electrical Manufacturers Association, 1980 A report on research on fire safety test methods and performance criteria for transformers containing PCB replacement fluids. Contract no, NB795BCA0024. [Pg.171]

The Food Chemicals Codex. The Food Chemicals Codex is developed by the Committee on Pood Chemicals Codex, which is a part of the Pood and Nutrition Board, Institute of Medicine, National Academy of Sciences, under a contract with the U.S. PDA. The Committee has the responsibihty for the development and revision of the PCC. To meet this responsibiUty, the Committee also contacts manufacturers, trade associations, and other knowledgeable parties to obtain comments and criticisms of monographs proposed by the committee. Broader pubHc input is sought by pubhcation, by the PDA in the FederalFegister, of current committee activity regarding new and revised monographs proposed for inclusion in the PCC. [Pg.446]

The toller needs to be familiar with all raw materials, intermediate materials, products and wastes, used, produced or generated, respectively, while operating the process. Tollers in the U.S. should comply with the Federal OSHA Hazard Communication Standard, codified as 29 CFR. 1910.1200 and any similar state right-to-know laws that are currently in force or may be enacted during the term of the contract. This is often stated in the contract. The contract may require the toller to inform its employees of the chemical hazards associated with products or chemicals and may also be responsible for training its employees in the proper handling methods. The toller has an obligation when in doubt about a product or chemical, to seek further information from the product s manufacturer. [Pg.61]

In addition to a contracting market, manufacturers currently face several challenges specific to pesticides. The costs of raw materials, solvents, and other chemicals needed for the reactions and purification processes have climbed in recent years. This pattern is a part of the more general rise in costs of materials associated with chemical manufacturing as a whole. [Pg.78]

On the human scale it is possible to copy this behaviour with pistons and hydraulic systems but can this be mimicked on the nanoscale If it can, then therein lies the potential to manufacture molecular scale pumps that could be incorporated into nanoscale devices. Furthermore if the contraction and expansion cycle could be linked to an external signal, such as the change in chemical environment associated with diseased tissue or tumour, the pump could form the basis of an in vivo drug delivery system that identified and treated diseases before they became manifest to a medical practitioner. [Pg.235]

The first edition, published in 1966, was supported by a Public Health Service grant and more than 100 supplementary grants from industry, associations, and foundations. Its role, which is still that of the Food Chemicals Codex, was to define the quality of food-grade chemicals in terms of identity, strength, and purity based on the elements of safety and good manufacturing practice. Later editions were supported by direct contracts with the FDA. Such sponsorship has been sufficient to support the publication of 4 earlier editions and 14 supplements in a 42-year span. [Pg.1009]

If the manufacturer wants to have an Association Pharmaceutique Beige (APB) label on its product, it can apply a special file to the scientific committee of APB (the national Pharmacists Professional Organisation). After a procedure of some 30 to 60 days, he can sign a contract with this organisation (if positive outcome of the procedure). This contract, shown by the APB label on the pack, gives APB the right to take samples in the market and perform quality controls on the concerned products. These products are not allowed to claim medical indications. [Pg.53]
