The continuous current rating of a bus system can be defined by the current at which a steady-state thermal condition can be reached. It is a balance between the enclosure and the conductor s heat gain and heat loss. If this temperature is more than the permissible steady-state thermal limit it must be reduced to the desired level by increasing the size of the conductor or the enclosure or both, or by adopting forced cooling. Otherwise the rating of the bus system will have to be reduced accordingly. [Pg.942]

According to the latest assessments [1] the proven reserves of oil, mainly concentrated in the middle East, increased less intensively (from 86 btoe in 1973 to 140 btoe in 2000), than those of gas (52 Tcm in 1973, that was roughly tripled at beginning of the 21st century). The total proven reserves of crude oil and gas liquids at the end of 1999 aggregates roughly to 140 btoe that allows continuing current rate of production for 40 more years. [Pg.5]

The line sectionalizer is yet another overcurrent device, which is installed with backup circuit breakers or reclosers. It has coordination with the backup interrupting device and is designed to open after a preset number of tripping operations of the backup device. They are installed on poles or crossarms in overhead distribution systems. The standard continuous current rating for sectionalizers range from 10 to 600 A. Sectionalizers also come in both the single-phase and the three-phase variety. [Pg.1108]

The rating of current-carrying devices and components should be selected according to the continuous current they have to carry and the duty they have to perform. Deratings, depending upon the service conditions, should also be applied when deciding their continuous current... [Pg.371]

Temperature rise limits (or rated continuous current capaeity)... [Pg.421]

Continuous maximum rating (CMR) and permissible temperature rise this is the maximum r.m.s. current that the bus system can carry continuously without exceeding temperature rise limits, as shown in Table 32.3. The preferred current ratings of the bus system would follow series R-IO of lEC 600. i9, as shown in Section 13.4.1(4). [Pg.862]

This minimum conductor size will take account of the healing effects only during the fault, irrespective of the current rating of the conductor. The required conductor size may be more than this, depending upon the continuous eurrent it has to carry, as discussed later. [Pg.865]

Designing the output filter choke La) in a forward-mode converter is done first. This simple procedure can be seen in Section 3.5.5. A key design factor is to design the inductor to operate in the continuous current mode. The typical value of peak inductor current is 150 percent of the rated output current. The typical valley (minimum) current is about 50 percent of the rated output current. [Pg.61]

A 1999 study by the Institute of Terrestrial Ecology predicts that tropical rain forests will be able to continue to absorb carbon dioxide at the current rate of 2 billion tons per year until global temperatures rise by 8°F (4.5°C). At this point, evaporation rates will be high enough to decrease rainfall for the forests, leading to the collapse of tropical ecosystems. This collapse will decrease the amount of carbon... [Pg.188]

Button cells consist of cathode and anode cans (used as the terminals), powdered zinc anode, containing gelled electrolyte and the corrosion inhibitor, separator with electrolyte, thin (0.5 mm) carbon cathode with catalyst and PTFE, waterproof gas-permeable (teflon) layer and air distribution layer for the even air assess over the cathode surface. Parameters of battery depend on the air transfer rate, which is determined by quantity and diameters of air access holes or porosity of the gas-diffusion membrane. Air-zinc batteries at low rate (J=0,002-0,01C at the idle drain and J= 0,02-0,04C at the peak continuous current) have flat discharge curves (typical curve is shown by Figure 1). [Pg.164]

The design of the 2-electrode electrochemical cells used in this work is state of the art and is based on HS Test Cell available from Hohsen Corp. of Tokyo, Japan [10]. Unless stated otherwise, these cells were tested at 32°C at different cycling rates (from C/20 to C rate) under continuous current. The electrolyte used was EC DMC (1 1), LiPF6 (1M) made by Cheil Industries, South Korea. [Pg.233]

The worldwide nature of HIV infection makes it a very important health problem. No continent s or country s populations are safe from infection, and the virus can spread rapidly and undetected once it enters a high-risk group. Public health officials predict that, if current rates of spread continue, there will be 45-110 million cases of HIV infection worldwide by the year 2000. The majority of the cases are likely to be in Asia. [Pg.172]

Clearly, such a projection is fanciful. Although it is widely believed that computer power will continue to grow at current rates for about the next decade or so, it is not possible to predict how long such a growth rate can continue. On the other hand, it is not necessary to simulate the hill life cyde of an intad bacterium. Such a simulation would be extreme overkill, since it would describe the synthesis and folding of every molecule in the cell, with atomic detail. [Pg.98]
