Contents of the Written Report

This section begins with a template of items to be included in most design reports and followed by a discussion of several techniques found to be helpful in their preparation, i well as recommendations for the page format to permit the design report to be bound ft distribution.

There are a number of things to consider, but the most important is understanding the needs of the customer. Is the total sugar content of the product required or the lactose content The level of uncertainty in the result that is acceptable also helps focus on the choice of method. Once the method is chosen and validated, it is then important to ensure that all of the equipment is available and in a proper state of calibration. Then, all that remains is to have sufficient trained staff to carry out the analysis. Once the experimental results have been obtained and the data treatment is complete, the report can be written. The report also has to meet the customer requirements and should be written in an unambiguous way which is clear to the non-specialist. 

The contents of a financial report may be classified into three distinct parts. The written part, mostly prose, is cast in simple language and is understandable. There may be some words or phrases new to the reader, but any financial jargon is explained in the text in this section, activities for all company divisions are... 

A written report is required. The contents of the report are to be reviewed with aU affected personnel, and the report is to be retained for 5 years. The report is to address the following (1) the date and time of the incident, (2) the date on which the investigation began, (3) a description of the incident, (4) the factors that contributed to the incident, and (5) recommendations resulting from the incident. 

The employer shall establish and maintain records for each employee with occupational exposure in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.20 (see Section VH1.B, this chapter). Once all the data have been evaluated and the PHA worksheet is completed, a formal report should be written documenting the results of the analysis. The narrative report typically includes a summary of all significant findings associated with operational risk. Recommendations for hazard elimination/control are also included in the report as well as suggestions for follow-on analyses. Although not entirely necessary, depending on the nature of the operation, process, or system, it is also useful to include a brief description of the project itself, its purpose and/or function as it relates to overall operations. The PHA/PHL worksheets are usually provided in the report as backup data to verify the report contents. Finally, the PHA report should also include a brief discussion of the methods used to develop the analysis (ETBA, FMEA, checklists, matrices, etc.), so that the reader can validate the report data, if required (Stephenson 1991).

Papers delivered to technical groups are normally written and published in the conference proceedings. Technical reports that contain complex information or a great deal of statistical material may be read to the assembly. It is generally preferable, however, to summarize the content of the paper and present it in an extemporaneous speech form.

The new specifications not only limit the concentration of sulfur to 0.05% but also specify that the fuel should have the combustion properties of a 10% or lower aromatics-containing fuel and have a minimum cetane number of 40. Fuels that have more than 10% aromatics are now able to meet these specifications through additives (22). However, as smoke emission standards become more restrictive, the aromatics content of diesel fuels may have to be lowered to a true value of 10% or less.
