Trade Associations. Trade association standards normally are developed through a consensus of technical people in the industry, although user input also may be used to arrive at a consensus. Examples of trade associations that have produced standards are the Aerospace Industries Association, the American Petroleum Institute, the Association of American Railroads, and the Manufacturing Chemists Association. Some trade associations find it advantageous to develop standards under the sponsorship of a standards organization such as ASTM (8).

Echocardiography is a noninvasive tool that can provide assessment of possible causes, shunts, left atrial hypertension, left ventricular dysfunction, valvular heart disease, and consequences of pulmonary hypertension. Measurements of RV systolic and diastolic pressures, and associated findings of paradoxical septal motion, diminished IVC collapse, RVH, right atrial (RA) or right ventricular (RV) enlargement, pericardial effusion, and decreased RV ejection time should all be included in the assessment of these patients. The measurement of PA pressures can be done with relative precision and varying degrees of correlation with invasive measures.

As noted in the chapter, the vulnerability-assessment process will assist in identifying vulnerabilities and risks that are apparent within individual schools or school districts. After identification, stakeholders can develop plans to address and help remedy those problematic areas. In addition to describing the assessment, the chapter will also provide information on reporting and the prioritization of findings. It is important to understand that even if the completion of the assessment is successful, the report and associated findings must be developed into a usable format that will give stakeholders information on how to improve the safety and security of the complex.

Color and power Doppler imaging may help the clinical diagnosis by depicting a hypervascular pattern in cellulitis (Cardinal et al. 2001) (Fig. 2.5a,b).
