Containment isolation

Before we continue with the construction of the sub-Hilbert spaces, we make the following comment Usually, when two given states fomr conical intersections, one thinks of isolated points in configuration space. In fact, conical intersections are not points but form (finite or infinite) seams that cut through the molecular configuration space. However, since our studies are carried out for planes, these planes usually contain isolated conical intersection points only. [Pg.663]

Formulas tend to contain isolates as the protein source to eliminate or reduce the presence of carbohydrates that ate the cause of flatulence and abnormal stools. Care is taken to provide adequate nutrition and to use proteins processed in such a way as to minimize or eliminate any antinutritional factors. The formulation of a typical soy-based infant formula is also given in Table 17. [Pg.449]

According to X-ray powder diffraction data, compounds RF NbOFs, Cs2NbOF5 [174] and Cs2TaOF5 [176] have similar type structure and are similar to K2GeF6, whereas (NFL,)2NbOF5 crystal structure is similar with Rb2Mo02F4 [184]. The above-mentioned compounds contain isolated NbOF52" complex ions [185]. [Pg.76]

Orthorhombic distortion, owing to puckered metal as well as B layers, occurs in the RUB2 type, whereas for monoclinic Ir2B3 (IrB, 35) a sequence of puckered B and metal double layers containing isolated B atoms is established. ... [Pg.201]

It is helpful in the discussion to describe silicate structures using the Q nomenclature, where Q represents [SiOJ tetrahedra and the superscript n the number of Q units in the second coordination sphere. Thus, isolated [SiO ] " are represented as Q and those fully connected to other Q units as Q. In general, minerals based on Q , Q and units are decomposed by acids. Such minerals are those containing isolated silicate ions, the orthosilicates, SiO (Q ) the pyrosilicates, Si O " (Q ) ring and chain silicates, (SiOg) (Q ). Certain sheet and three-dimensional silicates can also yield gels with acids if they contain sites vulnerable to acid attack. This occurs with aluminosilicates provided the Al/Si ratio is at least 2 3 when attack occurs at A1 sites, with scission of the network (Murata, 1943). [Pg.114]

Figure 13 shows the irreversible conversion of a nonconjugated poly (p-phenylene pentadienylene) to a lithiun-doped conjugated derivative which has a semiconducting level of conductivity (0.1 to 1.0 S/cm) (29). Obviously, the neutral conjugated derivative of poly (p-phenylene pentadienylene) can then be reversibly generated from the n-type doped material by electrochemical undoping or by p-type compensation. A very similar synthetic method for the conversion of poly(acetylene-co-1,3-butadiene) to polyacetylene has been reported (30), Figure 14. This synthesis of polyacetylene from a nonconjugated precursor polymer containing isolated CH2 units in an otherwise conjugated chain is to be contrasted with the early approach of Marvel et al (6) in which an all-sp3 carbon chain was employed. TTF salts containing similar ferrocenium anions have been prepared through metathesis reactions between (TTF)3(BF4)2 and the tetraphenylphosphonium salts of the desired anions [71]. The crystal structure of (TTF)(CpFeCp-CONHCH2 S03)-1/3H20 contains isolated TTF dimers. Hydrogen bonds of the —NH—OS- and NH—0=C- type are present between anions. Two phases of the TTF salts with the... [Pg.18]

Research is currently in progress on free radicals immobilized in supercooled solvents and as clathrate complexes.66 A clathrate complex is a crystal which contains isolated small molecules in regularly spaced cavities of the crystal lattice. These molecules are liberated when the crystal is crushed. [Pg.36]

The protection of petroleum facilities follows the same overall philosophy that would be applied to any building or installation. These basic requirements are personnel evacuation, containment, isolation, and suppression. Since these are design features that cannot be immediately brought in at the time of an incident they must be adequately provided as part of the original facility design. What constitutes adequate is the definition fire, risk and loss protection professionals must provide. [Pg.17]

Two almost simultaneous three-dimensional single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies of KTeFs (55,117) yielded comparable results. The orthorhombic crystals contain isolated TeFs ions which approximate to a square pyramid, but which in fact have only the Cs symmetry required by the space group (Pbcm). [Pg.211]

In the case of TGT structures which are acyclic or which contain isolated rings, the disconnection of non-ring bonds must be examined to identify those disconnections which may be most effective on topological grounds. However, for such acyclic disconnections the topological factors may be overshadowed by other structural considerations. For instance, if a powerful stereosimplifying disconnective transform, such as stereospecific organometallic addition to carbonyl... [Pg.47]

Dendrimers have also been found useful in the construction of thin films containing isolated fullerenes [85, 86]. Such materials could eventually find practical application in sensors and/or optoelectronic devices [87]. Generally, monolayers prepared from C60 are ill-defined due to the aggregation tendency of fullerenes. The covalent attachement of C60 to bulky dendritic frameworks... [Pg.395]

Notes on cluster phases in triel alloys. Li and Corbett (2004) have shortly reviewed the systematic and extensive experimental and theoretical work carried out by Corbett and co-workers (see for instance Corbett 1996). Considering alkali metal-triel alloys, they underlined, particularly for Ga, In and Tl, the richness of their chemistry (see also 5.3.4.4). Gallium forms many anionic network structures (and only a few phases containing isolated cluster units), indium gives several examples of both network and discrete cluster structures, thallium forms especially discrete clusters (Tl , T157A Tl , Tl , Tl(f, Tl ). [Pg.488]
