Composition of Electrolyte

In referring to the computer software system which I developed, the acronym ECES will be used. ECES signifies the Equilibrium Composition of Electrolyte Systems. [Pg.229]

The sinn of the electrochemical equivalents liberated is determined by Faraday s law, which, however, gives no information as to the relative amounts, which are influenced by temperature, composition of electrolyte, etc. Equation (4) can therefore be written... [Pg.27]

Among many key parameters which affect the pore morphology (such as current density, voltage, time of anodization, composition of electrolyte, etc.) substrate doping concentration (or resistivity) plays a particularly significant role. However, not much data related to the effect of SiC substrate resistivity on the formation of a porous layer has been published so far. In this work, we discuss surface and pore morphology of SiC and explore its correlation with substrate doping concentration. [Pg.32]

There are several different modes of conducting electrophoresis in capillary columns. We have just discussed at length the basic one, CZE, which is conceptually the simplest. It is conducted with a liquid buffer of uniform composition of electrolyte concentration and pH level. There are more complex versions, in which the buffer liquid is enmeshed in a porous gel of hydrophilic polymer, or the concentration or the pH of the separation buffer is not constant along the length of the column, leading to variations in the migration velocities of individual ions as the separation proceeds. Several of these will be discussed subsequently. [Pg.859]

The three main factors, i.e. time of wetness, composition of electrolyte, and temperature, depend for one tiling on the type of atmosphere ... [Pg.193]

Chemical environment strongly influences transport. Adsorption and intercalation influence the potential distribution at the interface, affecting the tendency for electrons to accumulate in the film and the photovoltage. Composition of electrolyte influences rate of electron scavenging. Film history influences the density of traps and recombination centers. [Pg.468]

The rate of this process in aprotic electrolytes is rather high the exchange current density is fractions to several mA/cm. As pointed out already, the first contact of metallic lithium with electrolyte results in practically the instantaneous formation of a passive film on its surface conventionally denoted as solid electrolyte interphase (SEI). The SEI concept was formulated yet in 1979 and this film still forms the subject of intensive research. The SEI composition and structure depend on the composition of electrolyte, prehistory of the lithium electrode (presence of a passive film formed on it even before contact with electrode), time of contact between lithium and electrolyte. On the whole, SEI consists of the products of reduction of the components of electrolyte. In lithium thionyl chloride cells, the major part of SEI consists of lithium chloride. In cells with organic electrolyte, SEI represents a heterogeneous (mosaic) composition of polymer and salt components lithium carbonates and alkyl carbonates. It is essential that SEI features conductivity by lithium ions, that is, it is solid electrolyte. The SEI thickness is several to tens of nanometers and its composition is often nonuniform a relatively thin compact primary film consisting of mineral material is directly adjacent to the lithium surface and a thicker loose secondary film containing organic components is turned to electrolyte. It is the ohmic resistance of SEI that often determines polarization of the lithium electrode. [Pg.79]

Avoid stagnant solutions. Circulate, stir, and aerate electrolytes in contact with stainless steels. Ensure uniform composition of electrolyte at all regions of the metal surface. [Pg.354]

Compositions of electrolytes 1-12 are in mole-per cent, while the MEEP PEO ratio of 13 is given as weight-per cent. [Pg.98]

However, not every collision leads to the product formation since many collisions are elastic. The collective efficiency of collisions is described by the reaction s rate constant. The rate constant depends on tanperature and potential and on various environment factors, such as the nature of the solvent and electrolyte, and the quantitative composition of electrolyte solution. [Pg.52]
