Cultivar. It is obvious that the variety or cultivar is of fundamental importance. As mentioned earlier, the composition and size of the grape varieties of the different types vary considerably. This genetic inheritance is fundamental but variations in other factors can influence the expression of the potential quality in the particular cultivar. Thus, while a cultivar such as the Flame Tokay table grape does best in the Lodi region of California, it will produce fruit recognizable as table grapes in many of the other climatic regions of California. [Pg.8]

Another study employed an ODS column and different mobile phase composition for the measurement of carotenoids in orange juice. Citrus fruits were hand-squeezed and the juice was filtered. Aliquots of 5 ml of juice were extracted with ethyl acetate (3 X 50 ml) containing 0.004 per cent butyl hydroxytoluene (BHT). The organic phase was dried with 50 g of anhydrous sodium sulphate and the aqueous phase was mixed with 50 ml of mehanol and 100 ml of 1 M NaCl, extracted with 75 and 25 ml of ethyl acetate. The ethyl acetate fractions were combined, evaporated to dryness at 40°C and redissolved in the mobile phase. Extracts were analysed in an ODS column (250 X 4.6 mm i.d. particle size 5 jian). The mobile phase consisted of ACN-methanol-l,2-dichloroethane (60 35 5, v/v) containing 0.1 per cent BHT, 0.1 per cent triethylamine and 0.05 M of ammonium acetate. The fruit of the oil palm grows in bunches which weigh 4-20 kg and contain 200-2000 individual fruits varying in size and shape. Three main fruit have been characterized, dura, tenera and pisifera. These forms are distinguished both by size of the kernel and thickness of shell. Tenera is a hybrid of dura and pisifera. Natural fiber (jute fabric) and industrial wastes are used along with polymer to make composite wood substitute products. In this process, processed fabric of jute fiber and industrial wastes such as fly ash/red mud/marble sluny dust with polymer were synthesized in molds of required length and width. The composite laminates were fabricated with requisite pressure and cured at room temperature. Various products such as full size door shutters and panels can be fabricated and designed according to requirement. The industrial waste-based polymer composite products are comparable to natural wood and thus could be used as a wood substitute for doors, windows, ceilings, flooring, partitions, and furniture, etc. The products are cost-effective and no further maintenance is required.
