Competence field-specific

While the market for intense sweeteners is substantial it seems questionable whether a newcomer could expand the total market size instead of cannibalising markets of existing sweeteners. Similar considerations apply for bulk sweeteners with their specific fields of applications and higher cost than carbohydrates. Any new development would have to compete with the established sweeteners and new products would have to earn the substantial cost of development first which would be very difficult. It seems therefore unlikely that more than very few new developments, if any more than those mentioned before, will be seen in the foreseeable future. [Pg.245]

In addition to proving the speculated cause scenario, the team should also make a conscientious effort to disprove the scenario that has been selected as the most likely cause scenario. Most investigation teams are competent at proving the selected scenario, but it is a recognized fact that we are not as capable at disproving a favored hypothesis (scenario). In the field of critical and logical thinking, there is a concept of falsifiability where a specific effort is made to disprove a speculated hypothesis, in addition to the efforts made to prove the hypothesis. [Pg.217]

The NVLAP is comprised of a series of laboratory accreditation programs (LAPs), depending on what is requested and what is needed. Each LAP includes specific calibration and/or test standards and related methods and protocols assembled to satisfy the unique needs for accreditation in a field of testing or calibration. NVLAP accredits public and private laboratories based on evaluation of their technical qualifications and competence to carry out specific calibrations or tests. All are based on the ISO/IEC Guide 25 discussed in Section 2. The process involves an application and the payment of fees. This is followed by an on-site assessment. If deficiencies are found, these must be resolved to the satisfaction of the assessment team. The laboratory then participates in proficiency testing (Section 5.7) and a technical evaluation. [Pg.79]

The AALA accreditation is also based on the ISO/IEC Guide 25. This accreditation indicates that a laboratory has demonstrated that it is competent to perform specific tests or specific types of tests that its quality system addresses and conforms to all elements of the Guide 25 and is fully operational and that it conforms to any additional requirements of AALA or specific fields of testing or programs necessary to meet particular user needs. [Pg.79]

Digital Field Communications To provide increased data transmission capability between valve-mounted devices and the host control system, manufacturers are providing digital network means in their devices. The field networks, commonly Known as field buses, compete fiercely in the marketplace and have varying degrees of flexibility and specific application strengths. A prospective field bus... [Pg.86]

The BOVB method does not of course aim to compete with the standard ab initio methods. BOVB has its specific domain. It serves as an interface between the quantitative rigor of today s capabilities and the traditional qualitative matrix of concepts of chemistry. As such, it has been mainly devised as a tool for computing diabatic states, with applications to chemical dynamics, chemical reactivity with the VB correlation diagrams, photochemistry, resonance concepts in organic chemistry, reaction mechanisms, and more generally all cases where a valence bond reading of the wave function or the properties of one particular VB structure are desirable in order to understand better the nature of an electronic state. The method has passed its first tests of credibility and is now facing a wide field of future applications. [Pg.222]

A new concept Flexibibilization of scope of accreditation or Accreditation of types of tests or Scope in testing has emerged [11] in microbiology. It has been used by German and Swiss accreditation bodies for nearly ten years in other fields. Under this concept, an accredited laboratory, which has shown solid technical competence in the past, could, after establishment of a validation file, directly incorporate the new developed test method or application inside its scope of accreditation without a separate specific inspection. This laboratory could also at any moment retry new test methods or application. Surveillance audits then confirm (or fail to con-... [Pg.153]
