Coating solid

Nonhazardous coating solids and water should be segregated from hazardous solvents and thinners, and containers labeled to prevent mixing. Separation of the materials reduces the amount of hazardous waste that is produced. Coating material solids can be dried and treated as a solid waste allowing for disposal in a landfill.

Because of antibody-based selectivity, ELISAs are capable of handling samples that are impure or only semipurihed. It is possible to perform ELISAs in a variety of matrices. This is in contrast to other methods such as HPLC that require relatively pure material. During the development and validation of the ELISA method, it needs to be demonstrated that the ELISA is not affected by interfering substances that could be in the test sample, such as buffers, salts, contaminating proteins, and excipients. It also needs to be demonstrated that the conjugated antibody does not bind nonspecihcally to the coated solid phase. 

It is used in the semiconductor industry to coat solid-state devices. Some compounds are used in paints and fireworks. The major uses are in medicine, where its toxic properties are important for the treatment of diseases.

Curran and co-workers have introduced a promising approach to separation and purification procedures by using fluorocarbon-coated solid phases for liquid-phase chromatography.
