In the case of multi-ply packs some plies (particularly the foil) can be perforated but, as other plies may be continuous, leakage will not be detected by a vacuum test. However, this perforation may be sufficient to affect product life. This type of leakage may have to be detected by visual means (microscope) or by careful separation of the plies by suitable solvents. The other alternative is to subject the pack to a cycling climatic test, i.e. 15°C 50% RH and 37°C 90% RH with 12 h cycles. [Pg.278]

The described decorative coatings show excellent adhesion on fused silica, boron silicate (Borofloat) and float glass. Stability tests have been performed with the PbO-Si02 coatings. No change in the absorbance spectra (difference in transmittance <1 were obtained after 8 days at 500 °C, 14 days ofsuntest an 12 days of climate test. The scratch resistance... [Pg.1817]

At the moment of this paper submission several climatic tests on composite materials have been completed (see details in the proposed methodology bellow) and mechanical tests launched. Since this paper is describing a possible methodology for composite materials investigation the results describing composite materials properties in terms of safety features will be presented at the conference presentation. [Pg.906]

Our tests of composite materials were set up to simulate accelerated life usage. The equipment used for the climatic testing is Votsch chamber VC 7034. Therefore we organised two climatic tests so far. First one was performed on the three types of composites samples (for exact composition see above) at the temperature -25°C for a month. The second test has been performed at the temperature 95°C and relative humidity 75%. In both instances significant influence of the climatic condition on the mechanical properties of the materials are expected. Flexural test will go by using testing machine for static tests Zwick ZIOO. Speed of traverse will be constant at 5 mm/min. Flexural stresses o can calculate based on formula ... [Pg.908]

In climate tests (98% RH), tin oxides occurred only in the area where adhesive was attached (Ref 11). No visible oxidation was observed at the fully air-exposed area on the top of the resistor. So they proposed that the direct contact between the noble metal (Ag filler) and the nonnoble metal (tin metallization), combined with absorbed water in the adhesive, formed a local electrochemical cell, which corroded the nonnoble metal. They also pointed out that tin oxide has no passivation effect and the contact resistance would increase progressively when tin is present in the metallization. However, metallizations of pure Cu and Pb were acceptable in high-humidity environments because oxides of Cu and Pb tend to form dense layers and hinder further corrosion. [Pg.254]

The switch also passed a variety of environmental tests, including mechanical shock tests and a 20000-cycle endurance test at elevated temperatures (normally 185 °C). Climatic testing involved damp/heat cycling, with checks on dimensional stability. The exceptionally low CTE and moisture uptake were important reasons why the LCP performed well. [Pg.280]
