Classification sheet

Once the network is trained, the topological map represents a classification sheet. Some or all of the units in the topological map may be labeled with class names. If the distance is small enough, then the case is assigned to the class. A new vector presented to the Kohonen network ends up in its central neuron in the topological map layer. The central neuron points to the corresponding neuron in the output layer. A CPG neural network is able to evaluate the relationships between input and output information and to make predictions for missing output information. [Pg.108]

Each basic operation can be divided into one or more unit operations. Size reduction involves cnishing and grinding depending on the size of material handled, and these may be carried out in stages. Separations can be either soHds from soHds, based on size or mineral composition, or soHds from Hquids, ie, dewatering (qv). Size separation or classification is an integral part of any flow sheet, not only to meet product size specifications, but also to ensure a narrow size distribution for subsequent minerals separation circuits and to decrease the load and improve the efficiency of size reduction units which are energy intensive. [Pg.394]

The cooled reaction mass is extracted from the retort, cmshed and leached first with dilute mineral acid, and then with water to separate the tantalum powder from the salts. After drying and classification, the primary powder is ready for processing to sheet, rod, wire, or capacitor-grade powder. [Pg.327]

An example of a classification problem ia which feature weighting and selection was important comes from forensic chemistry (qv). A classification method was needed to determine the paper grade and manufacturer of a paper scrap found at the scene of a crime. In this study, 119 sheets of paper (qv) representing 40 different paper grades and nine manufacturers were obtained (25). The objects were then the paper samples, and the variables consisted of... [Pg.424]

Appendix 4 gives definitions and rules for stress analysis for shells, flat and formed heads, and tube sheets, layered vessels, and nozzles including discontinuity stresses. Of particular importance are Table 4-120.1, Classification of Stresses for Some Typical Cases, and Fig. 4-130.1, Stress Categories and Limits of Stress Intensity. These are veiy useful in that they clarify a number of paragraphs and simphfy stress analysis. [Pg.1026]

For each fold one searches for the best alignment of the target sequence that would be compatible with the fold the core should comprise hydrophobic residues and polar residues should be on the outside, predicted helical and strand regions should be aligned to corresponding secondary structure elements in the fold, and so on. In order to match a sequence alignment to a fold, Eisenberg developed a rapid method called the 3D profile method. The environment of each residue position in the known 3D structure is characterized on the basis of three properties (1) the area of the side chain that is buried by other protein atoms, (2) the fraction of side chain area that is covered by polar atoms, and (3) the secondary stmcture, which is classified in three states helix, sheet, and coil. The residue positions are rather arbitrarily divided into six classes by properties 1 and 2, which in combination with property 3 yields 18 environmental classes. This classification of environments enables a protein structure to be coded by a sequence in an 18-letter alphabet, in which each letter represents the environmental class of a residue position. [Pg.353]

Regulate the classification, provision of safety data sheets, labelling and packaging of substances and preparations dangerous for supply. There are specific exceptions, e.g. medicines, pesticides, wastes, radioactive substances or preparations. [Pg.594]

In order to examine the electronic structures of CNT it is necessary to first define the classification of structural configurations of CNT. The configuration of a CNT is constructed by enrolling a graphite sheet as illustrated in Fig. 1. That is. [Pg.40]

In addition to classification based on layer structure, proteins can be grouped according to the type and arrangement of secondary structure. There are four such broad groups antiparallel a-helix, parallel or mixed /3-sheet, antiparallel /3-sheet, and the small metal- and disulfide-rich proteins. [Pg.184]

The vapour pressure of a liquid provides an essential safety parameter and it is mandatory that safety sheets contain these values (when they are known). This parameter is taken into account in some classification methods of inflammability risk. It enables one to determine the equilibrium vapour concentration of a liquid in air. This concentration can then be used to ascertain whether a working environment presents an inflammability risk (by reference to the inflammability limits) or a toxicity hazard (by comparison with the exposure values). [Pg.36]
