Dangerous preparation

There is an EU scheme for classification and labelling of dangerous preparations (i.e., formulations of substances) the Dangerous Preparations Directive (DPD) (a. 7). The EU supplier has to keep a record of the evaluation for inspection by the regulatory authorities. There is no obligation to conduct new studies, but the available information has to be used and interpreted according to the DSD and DPD. 

A review is given of the relationships between coatings, regulations and the environment. Mention is made of classification and labelling, the dangerous substances directive, the dangerous preparations directive, market restrictions, occupational exposure limits, and solvent controls. 11 refs. 

Dangerous Preparations Directive. Gives provisions on how to classify, package and label the paint product that contains dangerous substances (EU, 1988) (EU, 1999a).

In addition to the 67-Directive relating to dangerous substance. Council Directive 88/379/EEC (EEC 1988) was adopted in 1988 in order to approximate the national provisions relating to dangerous preparations, recently replaced by Directive 1999/45/EC (EC 1999). 

The standardized testing methods play a central role in the EU policy on chemicals control and they are referred to in many other pieces of EU legislation (e.g., those related to dangerous preparations, pesticides, cosmetics, and biocides also refer to these methods). The methods are based on those recognized and recommended by competent international bodies, in particular OECD (Section 2.2). When such methods were not available, national standards or scientific consensus methods have been adopted.

There are different means of classifying illicit drugs, depending on the highlighted characteristics of the substances. The main classification criteria are as follows legal, danger, preparation, symptomatic, and pharmacological.
