Chemical cleaning agents

Some recommended shoreline cleanup methods are natural recovery, manual removal, flooding or washing, use of vacuums, mechanical removal, tilling and aeration, sediment reworking or surf washing, and the use of sorbents or chemical cleaning agents. 

Some of the chemicals that have been used for cleaning purposes together with the foulant they are capable of removing are given in Table 15.10 which is based on the observations of Lester and Walton [1982], These authors have also discussed the compatibility of chemical cleaning agents with some common materials of construction (see Table 15.11). 

Polyester Paints. Binder based on unsaturated polyester resins (copolymerized with styrene), low emission of organic solvents, catalytic curing by organic peroxides or UV radiation, highly resistant to abrasion, alcohols, and other chemicals (cleaning agents). 

Suitable ceramic colors have been developed that stand up to the considerable everyday wear to which decorated ceramic cooktops are subjected. In most cases, high temperatures, aggressive media (boiled-over food, any residues of chemical cleaning agents), and mechanical stress (rough cookware, abrasive cleaning agents or additives) all act upon the surface at once. Chemical resistance of polyamide 610 and 612 is significantly higher than in polyamide 6 and polyamide 66. They are resistant to fuels and lubricants, fats and oils, most solvents, also to chemical cleaning agents as well as to aqueous solutions and alkalis.
