Decorative ceramics

Gold(lll) hydroxide is used for decorating ceramics, porcelains and glasses. It also is used in gold plating solutions.

In most cases, high temperatures, aggressive media (boiled-over food, any residues of chemical cleaning agents), and mechanical stress (rough cookware, abrasive cleaning agents or additives) all act upon the surface at once.
