Other than the obvious advantages of reduced fluorescence and high resolution, FT Raman is fast, safe and requires mmimal skill, making it a popular analytic tool for the characterization of organic compounds, polymers, inorganic materials and surfaces and has been employed in many biological applications [41]. 

The two most useful supplementary techniques for the light microscope are EDS and FTIR microscopy. Energy dispersed x-ray systems (EDS) and Eourier-transform infrared absorption (ETIR) are used by chemical microscopists for elemental analyses (EDS) of inorganic compounds and for organic function group analyses (ETIR) of organic compounds. Insofar as they are able to characterize a tiny sample microscopically by PLM, EDS and ETIR ensure rapid and dependable identification when appHed by a trained chemical microscopist.

The following examples of magnetochemical phenomena are selected to showcase typical phenomena of inorganic compounds and their characterization. Molecule-based systems are chosen that illustrate various phenomena on the basis of finite spin architectures.

The application of 33S NMR spectroscopy to the qualitative characterization of sulphur compounds in coals and petroleum has been another subject of a certain interest.99-10 The presence of organic and inorganic sulphur derivatives in variable amounts in fuels has serious economic and environmental consequences. Coals and crude oils can be treated chemically to reduce sulphur content, and it is of fundamental importance to develop an analytical method to rapidly and accurately analyse sulphur before and after the desulphurization process. 

The syntheses of double, triple and more complicated compounds can be carried out on the basis of hydroxides and hydrated oxides. In order to achieve the most efficient interaction, one should select initial components taking into account their acid-base properties, solubility and possible hydrolysis in the presence of small amounts of water. The compounds or groups of compounds should be selected to provide a maximum difference in acid-base properties. A quantitative characterization of these properties was described in the previous chapters. By present, a substantial experience in soft mechanochemical synthesis of inorganic compounds has been accumulated. The description of experimental results presented below is divided into two parts. One of them deals with the synthesis of double compounds and an another with the synthesis of more complicated compounds.
