Characterization of inorganic compounds

Jolly, W. L., 1970, The Synthesis and Characterization of inorganic Compounds, Prentice-Hall, Englewood Cliffs, N. J. An excellent, concise introduction to chemical vacuum line technique, with some experiments which will provide good exercises to the newcomer to chemical vacuum lines. [Pg.233]

A variety of environmental matrices have been analyzed for the characterization of inorganic compounds, organic contaminants, and NOM. The measurement of inorganic cations and anions in various airborne samples (ambient air, aerosols, and dust) and wet deposition (rain and snow) continues... [Pg.378]

Other than the obvious advantages of reduced fluorescence and high resolution, FT Raman is fast, safe and requires mmimal skill, making it a popular analytic tool for the characterization of organic compounds, polymers, inorganic materials and surfaces and has been employed in many biological applications [41]. [Pg.1200]

The two most useful supplementary techniques for the light microscope are EDS and FTIR microscopy. Energy dispersed x-ray systems (EDS) and Eourier-transform infrared absorption (ETIR) are used by chemical microscopists for elemental analyses (EDS) of inorganic compounds and for organic function group analyses (ETIR) of organic compounds. Insofar as they are able to characterize a tiny sample microscopically by PLM, EDS and ETIR ensure rapid and dependable identification when appHed by a trained chemical microscopist. [Pg.334]

Macintyre, The Dictionay of Organometallic Compounds, Chapman and Hall, London, 1984, provide extensive listings of characterized compounds, with brief notes regarding uses, properties, and lead literature references. [Pg.189]

The following examples of magnetochemical phenomena are selected to showcase typical phenomena of inorganic compounds and their characterization. Molecule-based systems are chosen that illustrate various phenomena on the basis of finite spin architectures. [Pg.93]

The determination of inorganic compounds in water samples provides significant data for risk assessment in aquatic environments and for characterizing the chemical quality of water. The presence of inorganic chemicals in water is due to both natural processes and human activities. Most of these... [Pg.19]

The application of 33S NMR spectroscopy to the qualitative characterization of sulphur compounds in coals and petroleum has been another subject of a certain interest.99-10 The presence of organic and inorganic sulphur derivatives in variable amounts in fuels has serious economic and environmental consequences. Coals and crude oils can be treated chemically to reduce sulphur content, and it is of fundamental importance to develop an analytical method to rapidly and accurately analyse sulphur before and after the desulphurization process. [Pg.39]

The syntheses of double, triple and more complicated compounds can be carried out on the basis of hydroxides and hydrated oxides. In order to achieve the most efficient interaction, one should select initial components taking into account their acid-base properties, solubility and possible hydrolysis in the presence of small amounts of water. The compounds or groups of compounds should be selected to provide a maximum difference in acid-base properties. A quantitative characterization of these properties was described in the previous chapters. By present, a substantial experience in soft mechanochemical synthesis of inorganic compounds has been accumulated. The description of experimental results presented below is divided into two parts. One of them deals with the synthesis of double compounds and an another with the synthesis of more complicated compounds. [Pg.79]
